Week 749– July 5th, 2025

There is a new song at the top and it isn’t a big surprise for me. Over the last weeks “Kurt Cobain” (#1) by Austrian singer Luna Antonia got more and more playing time. As I pointed out in the past this genre isn’t normally my gem, but I absolutely love the lyrics and the style she is singing on this song. Could she be a #1 hit wonder? Possibly yes, but it doesn’t change how I feel about this song in particular. With this rise “Where the mind goes” (#2) by Anouk had to leave the top spot and dropped one. Also dropping one spot is long running #1 “Unsicher” (#3) by Nina Chuba which isn’t really a problem in this week’s chart. Her other Top 10 hit “Wenn das Liebe ist” (#4, “If this is love”) climbed up two spots and is now in the Top 5. Also reaching the Top 5 is Austrian singer Esther Graf with her song “Wenn’s am schönsten ist” (#5, “When it’s at its best”).

Next in line and knocking heavily at the door to the Top 5 is another song by Anouk. It is “Set this thing on fire” (#6) which climbed up six spots. This is also no surprise as I pointed out in the past that this song should be a #1 song for me and now it is definitely on its way to the throne. Down three spots is former #1 “Hab ich dir je gesagt…” (#7, “Have I ever told you…”) by Madeline Juno. Anouk’ “Old broken ride” (#8) is the other song in the Top 10 which dropped three spots. Eventually German singer Zsá Zsá can celebrate her 1st Top 10 hit after climbing up six spots with “Bad bunnies” (#9). Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is former #1 “Heut’ ist alles gut” (#10, “Today everything is okay”) by Sarah Connor who has with “Wilde Nächte” (#15, “Wild nights”) another song for the Top 10 in the pipeline.

This week’s greatest gainer is “Total control” (#30) by Morgan Wade after climbing up 25 spots. This brings me to the highest debut. It is “Liebst mich” (#53, “Love me”) by German singer Lina. She is a singer and actress and this is her 2nd chart appearance. 11 years ago she had her only chart hit with “Richtig gehört” (“You heard right”) which peaked at #95 and stay in the chart for a single week. This song could be a breakthrough on my chart. The 2nd best debut is “Furious” (#57) by Marti Fischer. This song was first introduced on YouTube when he explained the sound of Modern Talking two years ago. In the time between Russia DJ BENVILS made a remix of this song and now they decided to release this song as regular single. This is worth listening to. The third highest debut is “Bad” (#58) by Dylan which marks a little comeback by her.
