Week 600 – August 27th, 2022

11 and a half year or 600 weeks since I did my first chart after a longer pause. How time flies. Back then a song by an Austrian band – who disbanded in the meanwhile – had the opening #1. Unfortunately Esther Graf couldn’t take over in this historic edition. So British band Pale Waves are celebrating their 2nd week on top with “Lies” (#1). Their other song “Jealousy” (#3) did the last step to enter the podium. Caught between is former #1 “Last cigarette” (#2) by Morgan Wade. Esther Graf’s “sad = sexy” (#4) dropped one spot and had to leave the podium. Holding its spot in the Top 5 is “Mariposas” (#5) by sangiovanni & Aitana.

Japanese singer Rina Sawayama is knocking at the door to the Top 5 with “This hell” (#6) after climbing up two spots. Also, up two spots is Pink with “Irrelevant” (#7). And there is another song which climbed up two spots. It is “What he didn’t do” (#8) by Carly Pearce. These songs let “Message in a bottle” (#9) by Taylor Swift behind which dropped three spots. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out with the only new song in this part of the chart. Returning is British singer Dylan who had earlier this year a big smash with “No Romeo”. Now she reached this part with “Girl of your dreams” (#10) after climbing up two spots.

After a short pause Scottish singer Bow Anderson was again awarded with the greatest gainer of the week. Her song “Selfish” (#16) climbed up 15 spots. Unfortunately for her she had so share this award with Mina Okabe. Her song “Every second” (#39) also climbed up 15 spots. As always, this information is followed by the information for the highest debut. This week it is a song from the Netflix film “Purple hearts”. Sofia Cason didn’t chart with the released single “Come back home”. With this song I personally have my problems although I’ve served as conscript in the Austrian army where I eventually became a private. I went with the song “I hate the way” (#51) which I believe just has been released as a regular single from the soundtrack.
