Week 792 – May 2nd, 2026

Weeks ago I watched the K-Drama “Can this love be translated?” and I instantly fell in love with “Dance alone” (#2) which had been a #1 hit for me and after five weeks at the top it dropped one spot in this week’s edition. The song which climbed up to reign the chart is another song from this soundtrack. It is “Daydream” (#1) by Wendy. When I first listened to this song, I didn’t saw this coming. Maybe it is only a bridge #1, but this song has grown on me and became the 2nd song in Korean reaching #1 after Blackpink’s “Lovesick girls” back in 2020. Sure, it’s not the first #1 song by a Korean artist this year and since 2021, but songs in Korean topping my chart are very rare. Up one spot is “ごめんね“ (#3, “I’m sorry”) by Ayane which could be my first Japanese #1. 2026 is a weird year. Beside German, English and Korean Japanese could be the fourth language topping the chart this year. Songs in Spanish and Italian failed this year to top my chart (they have done it in the past), but there is a lot of time to succeed in 2026. Directly behind these songs is another K-Pop song with “Like you better” (#4) by fromis_9. The highest placed song not from Asia is “To love somebody” (#5) by Holly Humberstone.

Next in line are the German songs “Nirgendwen” (#6) with Esther Graf x NESS and the former #1 “Fremdknutschen” (#7, “Snog someone else”) by Anaïs’. Climbing up two spots is a song by Italian singer Annalisa. Her song “Indaco violento” (#8, “Violent indigo”) is the highest ranked song in Italian (there is no song in Spanish on my chart for now). Esther Graf reached the Top 10 with her latest single “Wie schön” (#15, “How beautiful”). Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is Country Pop “Blame it on my broken heart” (#10) by Avery Anna.

This week’s greatest gainer is “Moonlight” (#17) by Korean singer Jung Soyeon. The song climbed up 29 spots. She rose to fame with the K-Pop band Laboum which failed to enter my chart during their active years between 2014 to 2022. For her this one is her first solo appearance on my chart and I really love this one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one in the Top 3 at least.

The highest debut is by British singer BEA. Her song “Can’t help falling out of love” (#59) is on the quieter side – as most of my debuts in this week’s edition –, but it easily became her biggest hit for me. I don’t know where the journey will end, but it could possible enter the Top 20.
