Week 247 – November 21st, 2015

There is no change at the top of the chart. Since now four weeks Adele’s “Hello” (#1) is my favourite song of the week and of course there is no end of this particular run in sight. Leslie Clio has to sit still with “Eureka” (#2) and she has to wait for her chance. As I quoted out last week the chance for a #1 comeback Krautschädl’s “Feiah fonga” (#3) is very small. This week they remained at #3, but in the year-end chart they are still climbing up very fast. They only song in the Top 5 which climbed up had been Taylor Swift’s “Wildest dreams” (#4). This part ends with “Superstar wonderful weidros” (#5) by Alanis Morissette. Unfortunately this song won’t be a #1 for her, but it is still a very good song.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 is opened by Tove Lo. Her song “Not on drugs” (#6) climbed up one spot and should be her next Top 5 hit. This week “Not on drugs” changed the spot with “Pyramids” (#7). Noonie Bao’s first Top 10 hit is going down the chart after peaking at #2 four weeks ago. For Selena Gomez it had been a calm week. “Same old love” (#8) didn’t move up and didn’t move down. Then I’ve to welcome two new songs within the Top 10. The first one is from the TV Series Nashville. Finally the first song out of this show reached this part of my chart. Guess which song it is! I’m quite sure that you know that it only can be “Gonna get even” (#9) by Aubrey Peeples. The 2nd new song is “Best I can do” (#10) by Misterwives. I really like this particular song. For them it is their 2nd Top 10 hit and by next week it should be their most successful song on my chart.

Outside the Top 10 Austrian act Count Basic has to wait one more week with “The City” (#11) for joining my Top 10 acts. But I’m sorry to say that there is one high debut that could spoil them this entry. Before I write something about this week’s highest debut I’ve to mention that Sindy’s song “Je m’en fous” (#15) is the 2nd week in a row the greatest gainer of the week. Let’s go back to this week’s highest new entry. The most successful Austrian band on my chart Tagtraeumer released the bands 6th single from their debut album “Alles OK” (“Everything OK”). With “Nichts” (#18, “Nothing”) they debuted right behind their last #1 “Brücken zum Mond” (#17, “Bridges to the moon”). Since their debut with “Sinn” they are rocking my chart and their ballad “Nichts” isn’t changing anything. The refrain to this song isn’t as catchy as the one in “Brücken zum Mond”, but the lyrics in general remove this little mistake. This brilliant song is ready for shooting into the Top 10 by next week and as most of their singles before this song could easily reach my #1. Looking over this week’s chart “Nichts” is maybe the natural follow up to Adele’s monster hit “Hello”.

For the 2nd highest debut you’ve to look outside the Top 30. When you’ve scrolled down you’ll notice that this is another song from an Austrian band. After their successful debut with “Kumm mit kumm aussi” their follow up is “Vergiss mein nicht” (#35, “Forget-me-not”). The lyrics go into the same direction the Tagtraeumer songs go. I absolutely prefer this single over their chart debut. The special thing about “Vergiss mein nicht” is the sax note in this song. Several international top songs had a sax part over the last years and with “Vergiss mein nicht” Solarkreis are the first Austrian band which is jumping on the bandwagon. Beside the sax part the refrain is very interesting and for those who are speaking German the part “Vergiss mein nicht” is sung in the dialect version “Vergiss mi ned”.

Other debuts are “Arriverà l’amore (#41) by Emma, “Was wäre wenn” (#56, “What if”) by Maria Voskania – this song is only a sound cover of Kate Winslet’s big hit “What if” – “Hollow” (#60) by Tori Kelly, “New romantics” (#71) and “Are you in love” (#72) by Taylor Swift, “Septermorgen” (#81, “September morning”) by 48 Stunden, “Ball and chain” (#90) by Connie Britton & Will Chase”, “Summer 2015” (#91) by L.E.J, “Crazy tonight” (#92) by Clare Bowen, “Shotgun” (#96) by Jannine Weigel and “Lay it all on me” (#98) by Rudimental feat. Ed Sheeran.
