Week 319 – April 8th, 2017

Over the last weeks there was no way to escape Ed Sheeran. First he released his singles “Castle on the hill” (#64) and “Shape of you” (#1). Then he released the rest of the songs of the album "Divide" and he broke every record with this album and songs that could be broken. On my chart it lasted 13 weeks for “Shape of you” to take over the lead, but now I’m joining the rest of the world. “Shape of you” is a great and catchy song, but I doubt that this song will stay at the top of my chart for a long time. Ed Sheeran’s first #1 on my chart is followed by folk pop. The German band formed by members from the USA, Italy and the United Kingdom reached the runner’s up spot with their beautiful “Be with you always” (#2). This song is flying under the radar, but it should gain more attention.

But where is Anouk? She is still in the Top 3 with her last weeks #1 “We are” (#3). And she still has four songs in my Top 10. “Castles in the air” (#5) dropped two spots while “Right on time” (#8) dropped three spots and “Keeps getting better” (#10) dropped four spots. Between these songs by Anouk you can find several songs from well known artists on my chart. US band Cold War Kids reached the Top 5 with “Love is mystical” (#4) and the other US band in my Top 10 “MisterWives” missed the Top 5 by one spot with “Machine” (#6). And I should forget about the chart dominating Leslie Clio. Her first single “Darkness is a filler” (#7) of her upcoming new album climbed up one spot. The only new song in my Top 10 is “Wasn’t easy” (#9) by GJan. She replaced Little Hours' “Water” (#11) and for her this is her first Top 10 hit.

This weeks greatest gainer is “Want it all” (#35) by Cam. In its 5th week on the chart this song climbed up 14 spots. This is one of only handful notable things that happend in my Top 50. The highest debut is by German singer Adel Tawil. Her released two singles at once, but only “Ist da jemand” (#45, “Is there anybody”) got its debut. “Ist da jemand” is a very emotional song and it reminds me of his older songs when he was part of Ich + Ich. This song got a solid start, but it should do well in the next weeks. The only other debut within the Top 50 is by Canadian singer Ruth B.. She recently released a video for her song “Superficial love” (#49) and now this could be found on my chart. This song is her chart debut.

Maren Morris, “Auf beiden Beinen” (#86, “On both legs”) by LOTTE, “For awhile” (#91) by Ryan Robinette, “I don’t really dance” (#92) by Eric Odeen, “City girl” (#93) by Ryan Hurd, “Therapy” (#94) by Kim Cesarion, “Take it like a man” (#98) by TP4Y and “Made 4 love” (#100) by SXTN.
