Week 612 – November 19th, 2022

This week is starting with a little surprise. Clean Waves didn’t defend their crown with “Clean” (#2) which dropped one spot. It was outperformed by Taylor Swift’s single “Anti-Hero” (#1). This song climbed up seven spots which has been the biggest climbed to #1 in a while. When I first listened to “Anti-Hero” I haven’t tough that this will be the next thing, but now it is. The podium completing is “Talking to yourself” (#3) by Carly Rae Jepsen. This song dropped one spot as “Fette wilde Jahre” (#4, “Big wild years”) by Juli and “Forget me” (#5) by Lewis Capaldi.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is “Reasons to live” (#6) by Pale Waves. This means that they only have one Top 5 hit with “Clean” for the moment. Directly behind you can find my actual Country #1 “Reckless” (#7) by Morgan Wade. This song reached the Top 10 after climbing up four spots. Next in line is “Jealousy” (#8) by Pale Waves. This former #1 is on its way out of the Top 10. “Jealousy” is followed by another new song in the Top 10. German singer LEA returned with the album cut “Gewitter” (#9, “Thunderstorm”). Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is “Into it” (#10) by Esther Graf.

Speaking about Austrian singer Esther Graf leads me directly to this week’s greatest gainer. She has been awarded for “Würde es auch tun” (#56; “Would do it too”) which climbed up 21 spots in its 5th charting week. As always, this information is followed by the information about the highest debut. This week it is by an unknown German artist; at least for me. Since the end of 2021 German singer 1986zig is releasing songs, mostly via TikTok. He had his breakthrough earlier this year with “Kopf aus” (“Head out”) which reached #3 in Germany but failed to enter my chart. Three weeks ago, he entered my chart for the first time with the help of Silbermond. Their song “Nie wieder schlafen” (#54, “Never sleep again”) failed to reach the Top 50 until know and is in my eyes not Silbermond’s best song. Now he released his new single “Danke” (#20, “Thank you”) which debuted directly in the Top 20. What should I say. I fell in love with this particular song, and I can absolutely understand why his voice is compared with German star Herbert Grönemeyer. If he is continuing than we will see more by him in the future.

Two more songs are debuting in the Top 50. The 2nd highest debut is by German band Juli who recently reach #1 with “Fette wilde Jahre”. Their new one “Der Sommer ist vorbei” (#47, “The summer is over”) is good, but not as good as their recent #1 smash. The other one is “Lose you” (#48). This one is a cooperation between Afrojack and James Arthur. “Lose you” could be their biggest hit on my chart.
