Week 615 – December 10th, 2022

Nothing new at the top at my chart. Taylor Swift is still reigning with her hymn “Anti-Hero” (#1). New at the runner’s up spot is Morgan Wade with “Reckless” (#2). Dropping one spot and closing this week’s Top 3 is “Talking to yourself” (#3) by Carly Rae Jepsen. For the first time in the Top 5 is Mimi Webb. Her song “Ghost of you” (#4) climbed up two spots. This one is followed by former #1 “Fette wilde Jahre” (#5, “Big wild years”) by Juli.

For the first time in weeks there is no song by Pale Waves in the Top 5. The reason is that “Clean” (#6) dropped three spots and is now out. German singer 1986zig climbed up one spot with “Danke” (#7, “'Thank you”). Maybe he will enter the Top 5 or more soon. 1986zig is followed by Taylor Swift with her song “Bejeweled” (#8). Although I like this song I don’t have the feeling that “Bejeweled” will ever reach #1 as “Anti-Hero”. Next in line is another one by Taylor Swift. This time it is “Girl at home” (#9) from her version of “Red”. And last but not least is “Gewitter” (#10, “Thunderstorm”) by LEA.

Last week “Crazy angels” (#55) by Carrie Underwood was awarded with the greatest gainer after climbing up 14 spots. This week she did again with “Crazy angels”. This time after climbing up 15 spots. German singer LEA returns with another non album single. “In Flammen” (#34, “In flames”) is this week’s highest new entry. She returns very strong and should do well with this song. The 2nd highest debut is also from Germany. This time it is Glasperlenspiel. They had their heydays about seven years ago when they reached the Top 3 in Austria, Germany and of course Austria with “Geiles Leben” (“An amazing life”). This song is not bad, but on my chart only peaked at #97 and charted for one week. My favourite song by them is “Für immer” (“Forever”) which peaked at #6 in December 2016, but failed to enter the charts in the DACH-region. Now the return with “Sunglasses” (#56) where the use the refrain of Corey Hart’s 1980’s hit “Sunglasses at night”. This time the interpolation works for me, but I recently had to admit in front of my colleagues that am not on the bandwagon for “I’m good (blue)” because I prefer the 1990’s hit “Blue” by Eiffel 65.

Other debuts are “Pointless” (#57) by Lewis Capaldi, “Fieber” (#77, “Fever”) and “Glatteis” (#80, “Glaze”) by Nina Chuba, “Sbagliata ascendente leone” (#84, “”) by Emma, “Crazy” (#88) by KATI K & ROTE MÜTZE RAPHI – another song which uses interpolation, this time “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley –, “Drinking to remember” (#90) by Maddie & Tae, “Hurts like hell” (#93) by Wrabel feat. Sadie Jean and “Break up with that guy.” (#98) by Virginia To Vegas.
