Week 763 – October 11th, 2025

An interesting week has ended and there is a new song at the top of my chart. Italian-German singer Luca Vasta reached #1 with “Blu” (#1, “Blue”) and replaced herself at the top. This means that “Disco Mare” (#2, “Disco sea”) dropped one spot and is now at the runner’s up spot. New at the podium is “Blowing smoke” (#3) by Gracie Abrams. This one has a real chance to go all the way to the top to become her 2nd #1 hit. Directly behind there is another rising song. It is “Man I need” (#4) by Olivia Dean which also climbed up three spots. Down two spots is “Was ich fühl“ (#5, “What I feel”) by Esther Graf who just entered with a new song in this week’s edition.

Dropping out of the Top 5 are former #1 hit “Love has got me dancing” (#6) by Leslie Clio and “Storie brevi” (#7, “Short stories”) by Annalisa & Tananai. I still love these ones, but they are on their way out of the Top 10. The next three songs are new to this part. The highest ranked one is “Going, going, gone” (#8) by Knox. For him it is a return to this part. Earlier this year he had a Top 3 hit with “Love letter” (peaked at #2). Morgan Wade is returning to this part with “The party is over (#9). For the first time in the Top 10 are Kraftklub and Domiziana. Their hit single “Unsterblich sein” (#10, “Be immortal”) climbed up six spots and is rounding out this week’s Top 10.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to Anouk. Her song “Outrage 3,2,1” climbed up 19 spots to get the award. Nearly ten spots above the highest debut can be found. It is the latest single by Taylor Swift. Her song “The fate of Ophelia” is in at #16. I personally had been disappointed from her last two albums “Midnights” which had a big hit with “Anti-Hero” (peaked at #1 for five weeks) and “The tortured poets department” with its big hit “Fortnight” (missed the Top 10 on my chart). I haven’t bought these ones although I had bought a lot of her albums in the past. For her album “The life of a showgirl” I hadn’t high hopes, but now I have to say that I really like this one. I’m sure that it will produce several hits on my chart.

The 2nd best debut is “Gute Kinder” (#48, “Good kids”) by German singer CIVO and Austrian Esther Graf. Nearly every single by Esther Graf is a hit for me and so I expect a lot from this one. The next debut is by a newcomer. It is “Calling it love” (#60) by Elle Coves which is a single from 2024. I just discovered her recent single and so I gave her older work a chance. Before I chart this song, I will chart her older work, so it will be a few weeks from now until this one will be found on my chart. I also noticed that she is considered as German singer in other personal charts. I’m personally not sure that she has the German citizenship for two reasons. First you get the German citizenship via birthplace in Germany if the parents (at least one part) are German. Or second (since January 1st, 2000) you get the German citizenship via birthplace in Germany if the parents (at least one part) have lived permanently in Germany for at least five years and have a permanent right of residence. The 1st part doesn’t count for her as her parents have the Spanish citizenship. For the 2nd part I haven’t found any evidence. As of this information I will count her as Spanish on my chart. By the way the laws in Austria are stricter. You only get the citizenship via birthplace if at least one part of the parents is Austrian. So, a lot of my students in school don’t have the Austrian citizenship although they are born in Austria and are living here for nearly 14 to 17 years. The first chance to get the Austrian citizenship with a test is when they are 18 years old.
