Week 750– July 12th, 2025

 Long live Austrian music! Austrian singer Luna Antonia defended the top spot with her smash “Kurt Cobain” (#1). Unfortunately I doubt that she will be topping the chart for one more week as “Set this thing on fire” (#2) climbed up four spots and so Anouk is ready for a takeover. “Unsicher” (#3, “Insecure”) by German superstar Nina Chuba is holding its spot in the Top 3 for one more week. As I can say for now is that this could be my #1 song in 2025. One spot behind is the 2nd Top 10 hit by her. “Wenn das Liebe ist” (#4, “If this is love”) is holding the spot. Also non-moving is “Wenn’s am schönsten ist” (#5, “When it’s at its best”) by Esther Graf.

Dropping four spots and swapping spots with the new #2 is another song and former #1 by Anouk. “Where the mind goes” (#6) dropped four spots should spend several more weeks in the Top 10 although the Top 10 is very young for the moment. New in this part of the chart is “Wilde Nächte” (#7, “Wild nights”) by Sarah Connor who had one #1 with “Heut’ ist alls gut” (#13, “Today everything is okay”) earlier this year. This week this song dropped out of the Top 10 and was replaced by another song from her latest album “Freigeistin”. Up one spot is German rap singer Zsá Zsá with her recent hit “Bad bunnies” (#8). This song is followed by two more new songs in this part of the chart. The higher ranked one is “East coast” (#9) by Morgan Wade. This heartbreaking song is continuing her Top 10 run with songs from all her albums. For the first in the Top 10 is FLØRE. Her song “Die a million times” (#10) climbed up four spots to give her the first Top 10 appearance.

For the first time in the Top 40 is German singer Lina. Her song “Liebst mich” (#38) is the greatest gainer of the week after climbing up 15 spots. If you’re into German songs, you should definitely check this one out. This week’s highest debut missed the Top 40 by one spot. It is “Love has got me dancing” (#41). It’s the new single by German singer Leslie Clio who had her breakthrough with “Told you so” (peaked at #11 on my chart) in 2012. Her most successful single in the DACH region is “I couldn’t care less (peaked at #33 on my chart) which reached #25 in Germany and Austria. For me she was very big on my chart with her 2nd album “Eureka” when she had four #1’s in 2015 (topping the chart for a total of 14 weeks that year) and two #’1 (topping the chart for six more weeks in 2016) out of this album. Nearly eight years after her last #1 “And I’m leaving” (topped the chart in June 2017) she had this year a #1 song with “Just friends” (peaked at the top for two weeks). This song marks a return to her older work and her new single “Love has got me dancing” is continuing this trend. For me this one has written hit all over it and should sprint up the chart in the coming weeks and it is absolutely possible for that this one could be her 2nd #1 in 2025.

The 2nd best debut is by Austrian singer Esther Graf who had one #1 with “Red flags” late in 2021. Now she returned very strong with the Top 5 hit “Wenn’s am schönsten ist” and this week she released another single with “Was ich fühl” (#42, “What I feel”). I really love her Top 5 hit but if I’ve to choose between this songs I will go with “Was ich fühl” which also has the potential to become her 2nd #1 hit on my chart. She also has two more debuts with songs from her debut album “Happy worstday”. These are “SOS” (#73) feat. Elif and “Trash TV” (#75). Both songs are candidates for a spot in the Top 20.

Other debuts are “Schön, das du da warst” (#52, “Nice to have you there”) Chapo102, “Alles verheilt” (#55, “Everything heals”) by LISÆ x Werksman, “Shook” (#58) by Sugababes – what a great song by them –, “Back to me” (#74) by Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, “#1” (#78) by Katelyn Tarver, “Oh, Anna!” (#85) by Dasha, “You’re breaking my heart (Cecilia)” (#86) by Priscilla Block, “Kleine Tattoos” (#96, “Small tattoos”) by Paula Engels, “I’m done (games that you play)” (#97) by Amy MacDonald and “In it with you” (#98) by Craig David & JoJOo.
