Week 140 – November 2nd, 2013

And here is the next #1 on my chart. Mic Donet stayed only one week at the top with “Going insane” (#2). This week he dropped one spot. Therefore Emma reached #1 for the first time since “Non e’ l’inferno” peaked at #1 in May 2012. “Dimentico tutto” is her third #1 overall. And this song could stay a little bit longer than Mic Donets’s #1 hit. The podium completing is Anouk with the former #1 “Pretending as always” (#3). Returning into the Top 5 in its 15th week is “Spiral” (#5) by Alanis Morisette. This week there are two new songs within the Top 10. The first new song is “Love like stars” (#6) by Ben Montague. So far this is his best charting song ever. “Love like stars” peaked one position higher than “Rainy day” from his debut album. And it seems that there is no limit for this song. His 2nd song on the chart “Another hard fall” (#22) is a little bit in trouble this week by not reaching the Top 20. The other new song comes from German youngster Luna Simao. Her catchy song “Es geht bis zu den Wolken” (#9) climbed up five spots.

Finnish band Satin Circus debuted in June directly in the Top 10 with their international debut “Emma” (#34). “Emma” reached #1 fast and stayed for four weeks. This week their 2nd single gave its debut. “If you love me” (#16) is different from their first single which could have been easily an One Direction song. “If you love me” is this week’s highest debut and debuted directly within the Top 20. The only question at the moment is “Could this song also top the chart?”. The future will give the answer, but at the moment I feel that only handful songs have the chance to top the chart.

Madeline Juno is still climbing up the chart with “Error” (#13). This week she failed to enter the Top 10. Also Swiss Folk Rock band 77 Bombay Street failed to reach the Top 10. “Wake me up” (#14) continued the run from the last weeks and could do the last step next week while their other song “Follow the rain” (#23) struggled a little bit. And there is Jessie J. Her latest single “It’s my party” (#15) is also climbing up the chart. Unfortunately the Top 10 has only 10 spots and not every song could be in there by next week.

Giving a respectable chart debut are Belgium Hooverphonic. “Amalfi” (#37) debuts within the Top 40 and this is the first song I like from this band. Norwegian young girl Marthe Emilie is running up the chart with her debut single. “Your picture” (#43) is a very interesting song and has everything I like. This week this song is the greatest gainer of the week. The next best new entry comes from well-known Matt Cardle. “For every heartbreak” (#55) is another album track which debuts on my chart. It is a solid song, but I think no future #1 hit, but he should reach the Top 20 with this song. He also debuted with “Water” (#91) down the chart.

There are two more interesting chart debuts. The first one comes from Demi Lovato. “Neon lights” (#61) is a more dance oriented song, but for now this song failed to get major attention. The other song is the debut single from Canadian girl Jacelyn Kenyon. Her song “It’s all fun (‘till somebody gets hurt)” (#68) debuts directly out of the M4B Song Contest where Bryan suggested this song. Other debuts are “Bonfire heart” (#79) by James Blunt, “Another summer” (#80) by I65, “Play with fire” (#88) by Andrew Allen. “Cần Một Ai Đó” (#93, “I wanna dance”) by Đông Nhi, “Boom kah” (#94) by Robin feat. Mikael Gabriel & Uniikki, “Revolution” (#95) by Dicks On Fire feat. Lena Meyer-Landrut, “Veto veto” (#97) by Sawoff Shotgun, “Almost is never enough" by Ariana Grande & Nathan Sykes and “Broken glass park” (#100) by Simple Minds.
