Week 288 – September 3rd, 2016

Taking the song title literally then there will be no excuse of Jojo & Wiz Khalifa for taking over the top spot with “F*ck apologies” (#1). In their 5th week on chart they replaced Anouk. Her song “Wanna little something” is now in the hunting position. Still at the podium without stepping up is Swedish singer Miriam Bryant. With her “Black car” (#3) she cruising into the September sun too, but failed to bust the chart topping tandem. The longest charting song within the Top 5 is “Facciamola più semplice” (#4, “Make it easier”) by Emma. In its 10th week on chart Emma’s finally reached this part of my chart and therefore “Facciamola più semplice” is one of the best songs from her “Adesso” album. While Emma is climbing up her Korean equivalent Hyuna dropped one with “How’s this” (#5).

Hyuna is followed by another K-Pop artist. Taeyeon is doing pretty well with “Why” (#6). In comparison with “How’s this” Taeyeon’s song is a moderate dance song, but it is nice to listen to this song and in my opinion I won’t get over this song as soon as by Hyuna’s song. Next in line is Julian Le Play. After closing the Top 10 with “Du schmeckst nach Sommer” (#7, “You taste like summer”) for two weeks her climbed up three spots in Week 288. The only other summer song by Kate Voegele “Must be summertime” (#8) dropped out of the Top 5 this week. The Top 10 is rounded out with two new songs. For both acts it is their debut in this section. Aura better known under her previous stage name Aura Dione got this debut with a climb of four spots with her latest smash “Love somebody” (#9). The other debut brings a 3rd Korean song into my Top 10 which is by the way a new record. Girl band Stellar reached this part with their song “Crying” (#10).

Let’s have a closer look at the highest debut. Neither you can find this song within the Top 20 nor within the Top 30. To be honest it was close for this artist to debut within the Top 40. The artist I’m writing about is Tove Lo. You know her from her numerous hits from “Queen of the clouds”. I’m still charting these album songs and over the next weeks three more songs from this album will get their chart entry. But this week Tove Lo is debuting with the first single from her upcoming new album. “Cool girl” (#38) is a nice dance song and is doing well after the first listen for me. I hope that this song will reach my Top 20 and for the rest we will see.
