Week 290 – September 17th, 2016

It was time to cruise into the mid of September. In my eyes the best song for cruising in a car is at the moment a song by Swedish singer Miriam Bryant. Her latest smash “Black car” (#1) climbed up all the way to #1 from #3 in its 10th week on chart. Miriam Bryant switched spots with former #1 “F*ck apologies” (#3) by JoJo feat. Wiz Khalifa who hold the top spot for two weeks. Caught in the middle for a third week in a row is Anouk’s “Wanna little something” (#2). By the way Anouk announced the release of her next album by the end of October. I’ve to admit that I’m still into her “Queen for a day” album with three more debuts by next weeks which brings me up to six of eleven song debuts from this album on my chart. Two albums within a year are a little bit more than expected, but I hope that her new album will be as good as “Queen for a day” which I love. At #4 you can find Aura Dione with her dance hymn “Love somebody” followed by Emma's latest hit from “Adesso”. Her song “Facciamola più semplice” (#5, “Make it easier”) dropped one spot.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is Hyuna’s dance banger “How’s this” (#6) with a drop of one spot. Still upwards is Kelly Clarkson. Her album cut “War paint” (#7) climbed up two spots and should reach the Top 5 by next week. The next two songs in line dropped one spot. Tayeon’s “Why” is now at #8 and Julian Le Play’s “Du schmeckst nach Sommer” (“You taste like summer”) is at #9. The Top 10 is rounded out by Stellar’s “Crying” (#10).

The highest debut is from a young German singer. Back in 2011 she participated in Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) the German version of American Idol. As Nicole Kandziora she reached the Top 15. Since this time a lot changed. She changed her artist name into the more international Nicole Cross. One her Youtube channel she is performing with German star Lena Meyer-Landrut. And back last autumn she released a cover of Adele’s “Hello” which was shared on Facebook by Ashton Kutcher. Now she released her first solo single. “Awesome” (#19) is a nice pop song with a catchy refrain. The song sticking in my head since the first listen and for me this song has written hit all over it.

“Awesome” isn’t the only debut within this week’s Top 50. Lady Gaga returned with a solid dance pop song after she made a side trip to Jazz. With “Perfect illusion” (#44) it seems that she can carry on where she left off. On my chart she underperformed in the last years with “Do what you want” as her only Top 10 hit. Maybe “Perfect illusion” is reaching the Top 20 and the rest we all will see. “Perfect illusion” is followed by the last but not least new entry in my Top 50. Swedish newcomer Neiked got their debut with “Sexual” (#45).

Other debuts are “If you don’t love me” (#87) and “Hard times” (#88) by The Wild Feathers, “Wir waren hier” (#89, “We were here”) by Jennifer Rostock, “Road less travelled” (#90) by Lauren Alaina, “Venerdì” (#91, “Friday”) by Baby K, “Push + pull” (#92) by July Talk, “Ritual” (#93) by Adam Jensen and “Come with us” (#96) by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
