Week 297 – November 5th, 2016

This week you can focus on the all the important things. November is coming and as the lakes do at this time when the weather is playing along nearly the complete Top 10 of mine is frozen. I know for sure that Anouk is dominating and none of the rest is able to compete. “If I knew” is now in its 7th week on the top which is a new record for Anouk. Her 2014 smash “I won’t play that game (live)” only spent six weeks at the top. From now on “If I knew” is hunting “Receive” by Alanis Morissette which spent 10 weeks on top in two runs and “L’amore non mi basta” (“Love is not enough for me”) by Emma which spent nine week at the top. On the other hand her songs “Not a lovesong” (#2) and “Be my baby” (#3) aren’t as far away as in the last weeks, but I think “If I knew” will lead my chart at least for one more week. Still caught between is “Sober” (#4) by Selena Gomez. It is amazing that this song is holding of one Anouk song and preventing me for writing chart history with four songs by one artist in the Top 4. Anouk’s former #1 “Wanna little something” (#5) is completing the Top 5.

So you read that none of my Top 5 is moving up or down. The same happens to the spots 6 to 9. Although “Awesome” (#6) by German singer Nicole Cross is awesome this song had no fortune to blow up the Top 5 domination. Nicole Croos is followed by core artist Adele. This year Adele had big hits with “Hello”, “Water under the bridge” (#48) and “When we were young”. “Love in the dark” (#7) is following the beaten track of her songs, but at the moment Anouk is too strong the reach one more #1. Tove Lo had a good week with several new entries and so it is no problem that “Cool girl” (#8) is holding its position. There is also no position change for Miriam Bryants "Black car" (#9). The only new song within the Top 10 can be found at #10. It is Melanie C with her latest single “Anymore” (#10).

For next week four songs are fighting for I think two spots in my Top 10. Danish single “Tordenkys” (#12, “Thunder kiss”) by newcomer Maia climbed up eight spots. This dance song is followed by a rock ballad. Shinedown climbed up the chart with their new one “How did you love?” (#13). Back in the Top 10 race is Leslie Clio. Do you remember her? Last year she dominated with “My heart ain’t that broken”. This year she did it with “Damage done”. Is “Remedy” (#14) her next big chart hit? I’m not sure, but there is a good chance to see her leading the rest in a few weeks. Another chart hero is climbing up my chart very fast. Last week “Nostalgic” (#15) was the greatest gainer of the week and this week Kelly Clarkson did it again. After climbing up 21 spots she is in the middle of the race.

You may now ask where you can find the highest new entry. Not in the Top 50, but the highest debut is by a well known artist. Kate Voegele is back with the first new track from her new album “Canyonlands”. Over the last years I charted nearly every song by her when I could buy the song or the album/EP. So there was no doubt that her new track “Free & wild” (#58) will debut on my chart too. Kate Voegele changed her style a little bit from her last album “Gravity happens”, but “Free & wild” is a good song. The start is expandable, but in the next week she should return to her normal standards.

Other new entries are “Over” (#77), “Paradise” (#78) and “Out of mind” (#79) by Tove Lo, “Talk too much” (#85) by Coin, “Stand by me” (#89) by Alex D’Rosso, “How far I’ll go” (#91) by Alessia Cara, “Keep it moving” (#92) by Alex Newell and “Holy war” (#99) by Alicia Keys.
