Week 326 – May 27th, 2017

Beside some position changes there is only one new song in my Top 10. Since now three weeks German Wincent Weiss is leading the pack with his gem “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#1, “Only a heartbeat away”). Not far away from taking over is the chart dominating Leslie Clio. Her single “And I’m leaving” (#2) is sticking at the runner’s up spot for a 2nd consecutive week. It is only a matter of time when she is taking over the lead. But there is also Shawn Mendes. His catchy tune “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#3) climbed up one spot and so he can celebrate his first Top 3 hit on my chart. Not on the podium any longer is GJan. Her hymn about the end of a relationship “Wasn’t easy” (#4) dropped one spot. Completing the Top 5 are US Indie rocker Cold War Kids. “Can we hang on?” was among my most played songs and so it is no surprise for me that this song is continuing the success from “Love is mystical” (#18).

It lasted only one week that “Flame” had been a Top 5 hit on my chart. A week later Tinashe dropped with “Flame” (#6) one spot. Next in line is another hit from Germany. Adel Tawil is holding his spot with “Ist da jemand” (#7, “Is someone there”). This German song is followed by Lady Gaga. With “The cure” (#8) is continuing her success she had with “Million reasons”. I really love this song so it should reach my Top 5 soon. The Top 10 is rounded out with “Hard love” (#9) by Needtobreathe feat. Andra Day and “Be with you always” (#10) by Mighty Oaks.

Some songs are pushing into my Top 10, but at the moment the Top 10 spots to give away are rare. Definitely in the perfect position are Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd with their love song “Lust for life” (#15). Lana Del Rey’s return on my chart is massive after the flops she had from her previous albums. “Love” (#54) had been a Top 10 hit and now “Lust for life” has the chance to be her next one. But is “Lust for life” her next #1? The time will give us the answer. Another song with chances to reach my Top 10 is “Hard times” (#16). I’ve been a fan for a long time now and although her previous disappointed me “Hard times” and “Told you so” (#65) are very good songs so that I gave “After laughter” a short listen this week. I definitely liked what I heard and so this should help both songs on my chart to do better than at the moment.

Behind Adele is a very good week. All of her three new songs on my chart climbed up well. “All I ask” (#45) reached my Top 50 after a ten spot climb. “Million years ago” (#56) climbed up eight spots, but failed to enter my best 50 songs. “Sweetest devotion” (#45) outstripped every other song with its climb this week. After a rise up of 25 spots “Sweetest devotion” is the greatest gainer of the week and marks this week’s highlight in my Top 50.

This week sees 15 new entries. The highest can be found outside the Top 50 and is from the Austrian band Tagtraeumer. They released a new single from the upcoming album “Unendlich eins” (“Infinitely one”). “Unendlich gleich” (#59, “Infinitely the same”) is a solid output from my favourite Austrian band, but I expected much more from a band who had #1’s as “Sinn” “(“Sense”), “Brücken zum Mond” (Bridges to the moon”) or “Nichts” (“Nothing”). I doubt that “Unendlich eins” will top my chart in the future, but I hope that this song will reach my Top 20.

Other new songs are “Che sia tu” (#75, “That is you”) and “Poco prima di dormire” (#76, “Just before sleeping”) by Emma, “Don’t you know” (#81) by Jaymes Young, “Bus stop” (#82) by Andreas Moe, “Kopfsache” (#83, “Matter of mind”) by LiZZA, “Love is love is love” (#84) by LeAnn Rimes, “Keep me from you” (#87) by Morton feat. Oda, “Paradise” (#89) by Brandon Beal & Olivia Holt, “Tell that girl” (#94) by Texas, “Dangerous affair” (#95) by Zoë, “Party on a weekday” (#96) by MYBADD feat. Olivia Holt, “Bad blood” (#97) by Mike Hawkins feat. Raphaella, “Und wenn ich träum” (#98, “And when I’m dreaming”) by Vanessa Mai and “Musik in meinen Ohren” (#99, “Music in my ears”) by Montreal.
