Week 327 – June 3rd, 2017

Over the last days I got into the summer feeling as the weather definitely changed, but still at the top is 24 year old German singer Wincent Weiss. His gem “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#1, “Only a heartbeat away”) is now the longest running #1 in 2017. Still at #2 is “And I’m leaving” by Leslie Clio. She should soon took over else I believe that it could be that Shawn Mendes with “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#3) or the Cold War Kids with “Can we hang on?” (#4) are grabbing the title. GJan is continuing her dropping out of my Top 5 with “Wasn’t easy” (#5) with slow steps.

While there is an open run for next week’s #1 Lady Gagy could enter my Top 5 with her recent smash “The cure” (#6) and who knows maybe this is the song which is preventing the others for reaching my #1. Adel Tawil is spending another week at #7 with his “Ist jemand da” (“Is someone there”). Up one spot is “Hard love” (#8) by Needtobreathe feat. Andra Day. They are followed by the only new song in my Top 10. For The Weeknd it had been a long time before reaching this part of my chart. Before this week’s edition he had only one Top 20 hit with a feature on the Ariana Grande song “Love me harder” (peaked #13 in January 2015). Now it is another feature. This time it is “Lust for life” (#9) which brings also Lana Del Rey back into my Top 10. Last but not least song in my Top 10 is “Flame” (#10) by Tinashe.

Three or four songs are ready for entering next week my Top 10. It is an open run for maybe one spot. “Hard times” (#13) by Paramore and “Lost in you” (#16) by Lena had been on last week’s shortlist too. New are Shawn Hook and Vanessa Hudgens with their song “Reminding me” (#16) which climbed up 14 spots. Also on this list is a newcomer from Australia. Dean Lewis climbed up seven spots with his 2nd single “Need you now” (#20). “Reminding me” just missed the greatest gainer award by a climb of two spots. So this week the award is going to Lea with “Wunderkerzenmenschen” (#42).

This week you can find 16 debuts on my chart which can be divided into two sections. The first ones are the regular 2017 debuts and the rest are from my latest discovery. Let’s start with my latest discovery. Last week I just listened through new releases on Spotify. There I found the album “Time is a riddle” by British singer Luke Sital-Singh. I liked what I heard and I checked out his earlier releases. So I discovered his first album “The fire inside” which he released back in 2014. On this album there are several great songs. Because this is my chart and I didn’t know Luke Sital-Singh and this album before I decided to start charting his album now. I’m known for charting some albums a year after its release, but three years is now a chart record. The highest charting song from this album is now “Greatest lovers” (#62) followed by his only chart hit in the UK “Nothing stays the same” (#63). His other debuts are “Bottled up tight” (#89), “Fail for you” (#90), “Cornerstone” (#91) and “Benediction” (#92). I hope that Luke Sital-Singh will have a great chart history with this songs as Ben Montague and Matt Cardle had in the past.

The highest debut is by Carly Rae Jepsen. With the song “Higher” (#11) from her album “Emotion Side B” she is still in touch with my Top 10. This week she returns with a song for the film “Ballerina”. “Cut to the feeling” (#31) is a sure shot for my Top 20 at least. It is definitely a catchy song which should bring her the fifth Top 10 hit on my chart and the first since “First time” back in December 2016.

Other debuts are “I have questions” (#64) and “Crying in the club” (#88) by Camila Cabello, “Malibu” (#65) by Miley Cyrus, “California sun” (#67) by Corey Harper, “Nur mit dir” (#94, “Only with you”) by Helene Fischer, “Ich bin das Chaos” (#95, “I’m the chaos”) by Judith Holofernes, “Bruises” (#96) by Lewis Capaldi, “Lieblingssongs” (#97, “Favourite songs”) by Olson & Lary and “Right beside me” (#100) by Brofaction feat. Laura Kamhuber.
