Week 328 – June 10th, 2017

It lasted four weeks and now Wincent Weiss lost the top spot with “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#2, “Only a heartbeat away”). With its drop to #2 the way was free for Leslie Clio. She took over with “And I’m leaving” (#1) which is now the first #1 from her new album “Purple”. It’s hard to predict if this song is staying longer at the top in 2017, because of the fact that there had been a high fluctuation at my top spot this year. Still at #3 is Shawn Mendes with his super hit “There’s nothing holdin’ me back”. This song is seven weeks on chart and so this song is still in reach for #1. It would be the first notching on Shawn Mendes belt if he would grab the #1. Also holding its spot is “Can we hang on?” (#4) by US band Cold War Kids. I still can’t believe that they have no #1 on my chart. So the question is could “Can we hang on?” is ready for reaching #1? This is also a question I couldn’t answer right now, because there is big concurrence above and below this song. Directly behind Cold War Kids is Lady Gaga. “The cure” (#5) is her 2nd song in my Top 5 in a row and this song is absolutely worth reaching #1 in the future.

Climbing up three spots is “Lust for life” (#6) by Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd. After its Top 10 debut this song is attacking my Top 5 this week. But because of the fact I wrote that every song in my Top 5 has the chance for reaching #1 it is absolutely hard to reach a spot in my Top 5 at the moment. So although I’m in love with this song I’m not sure if this song reaches my Top 5. Up one spot is “Hard love” (#7) by Needtobreathe feat. Andra Day. This song is followed by former #1 “Wasn’t easy” (#8). Although only 11 weeks on chart GJan is on her way out of my Top 10. GJan is followed by the only new song in my Top which is “Hard times” (#9) by Paramore. For them it is a comeback in this part of my chart. Nearly six years after they reached the Top 10 for the first and only time with “Monster” (peak at #8) they return with the first single from “After laughter”. The Top 10 is rounded out with Adel Tawil’s “Ist da jemand” (#10, “Is someone there”).

Up five spots is “Lost in you” (#11) by Lena. At the moment she is taking part at the show Sing meinen Song (“Sing my Song”). There she presented her new single “If I wasn’t your daughter” which is a very emotional song about her relationship (better missing relationship) to her father. This song should debut next week and it could be a debut in the Top 20 or even better. “Lost in you” isn’t the only song which is in reach for the Top 10. “Reminding me” (#12) by Shawn Hook feat. Vanessa Hudgens climbed up five spots and is also knocking at this door. There are two or three more songs which are definitely worth mention for a possible Top 10 spot. Australian singer Dean Lewis is doing well with his first charting song “Need you now” (#14) after a climb of six spots. 14 spots up is last week’s highest debut. Carly Rae Jepsen is continuing her way with “Cut to the feeling” (#17) although “Higher” (#15) failed to reach my Top 10. And last but not least country by Maren Morris also has a chance for a Top 10 spot. Her latest single “I could use a love song” (#20) climbed up 13 spots.

The highest debut and the only debut in my Top 50 is by Bakermat. The DJ from the Netherlands teamed up with Canadian singer Kiesza for his latest single “Don’t want you back” (#43). This one is his 2nd chart entry after his debut with “Baby” (peak at #24) earlier this year. Kiesza had several hits before, but not on my chart. So “Don’t want you back” is her first chart appearance. The 2nd highest debut just landed in my Top 70. It is by an Indie band project from Israel. Lola Marsh started back in 2013 and now it seems that their single “Wishing girl” (#69) could be the breakthrough in Europe. While Lolo Marsh has no full length album in their portfolio the next band has released five albums since 2007. But do you know US Indie rocker Moon Taxi? I’ve not heard from them until I listened to their non album single “Two high” (#70) they recently released. So I gave their older singles a chance, but for me these songs aren’t as good as “Two high”. Therefore “Two high” is now their first song on my chart with a sure shot for my Top 50.

Other debuts are “Unpredictable” (#71) by Olly Murs & Louisa Johnson, “World stops spinning” (#73) and “Don’t count me out” (#74) by Kate Voegele, “Stupid girl” (#87) by Madeline Juno, “Resonate” (#88) by Nosoyo, “Home” (#93) by Morgxn, “I need you” (#96) by Faul & Wad vs Avalanche City, “Hold you back” (#97) by Ryan Hurd and “Sweet Diane” (#98) by Michigan Rattlers.
