Week 330 – June 24th, 2017

Another week goes by and now its time for a recap. Last week Canadian singer Shawn Mendes reached my #1 for the first time. “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#1) defended its title in front of US band Cold War Kids with their single “Can we hang on?” (#2). They climbed up one spot. The podium completing is Lady Gaga. After “Million reasons” her new single “The cure” (#3) is now her 2nd Top 3 hit in a row. Down two spots is German Leslie Clio. “And I’m leaving” (#4) only stayed one week at the top and so I think that this won’t be my year end #1, but she still has some songs up her’s sleeve. Closing the Top 5 is another artist from Germany. Young singer Wincent Weiss is dropping down one spot with his former #1 “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#5, Only a heart away”).

The 2nd part of my Top 10 is opened with “Lust for life” (#6) by Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd. They are still trying, but it is hard form them to do this one last step. Their song is followed by the new one Carly Rae Jepsen song. Her song “Cut to the feeling” (#7) climbed up five spots and is absolutely ready to bring her in spheres where she has only been once before. Next in line is “Reminding me” (#8) by Shawn Hook feat. Vanessa Hudgens. They changed their spot with GJan’s “Wasn’t easy” (#9). And last but not least in my Top 10 is the next new one in this part of my chart. Let’s welcome Dean Lewis from Australia and his song “Need you now” (#10). For him “Need you now” is his first Top 10 hit with his first charting song.

Generally this week is low on debuts. The highest one is from Portuguese singer Aurea. She had several songs on my chart over the years including one #1 back in 2011. Now she is returning with songs from her 2016 album “Restart” which I recently bought. “Killer” (#48) is one of her best tracks ever and should soon be found in my Top 20 at least. She also debuts with “Blind woman” (#56). Aurea is one of two artists who hits on my chart before. The other artist is Jillette Johnson. On her debut album “Water in a whale” there you could find several #1’s including my favourite “Torpedo” from her so far. This week she returns with the first single from her new album “All I ever see in you is me”. “Love is blind” (#49) can’t be compared with the songs from her debut album. It has a retro sound which I’m absolutely enjoying. Sure for her a debut outside the Top 40 isn’t as good as expected, but “Love is blind” is a sure shot for my Top 20.

Other debuts are “Ultraviolet” (#97) by Dagny, “I’ve been thinking about you” (#98) by GoodLuck and “Shaky ground” (#99) by Freedom Fry.
