Week 348 – October 28st, 2017

Kelly Clarkson did it. “Love so soft” is now her 7th #1 on my chart from the 3rd album I'm charting. It is a nice song, but this year pertain there is only a little chance to stay very long (means more than two weeks) at the top of my chart. Last week’s #1 “So tied up” (#2) by Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs dropped one spot. Sad to say that their run is over, but this song could do well in my Top 10 for some more weeks. Directly behind is Kate Voegele who is attacking the #1 with “Catch me on fire” (#3) with a one spot climb. Sure there are others who did better this week, but since years nearly every song from her has a regular chance to reach my #1. Next in line is former #1 “Look what you made me do” (#4) by Taylor Swift. It is the first of two songs from her in my Top 10, but more a little bit later. This female Top 5 is rounded out with a male #5. Luke Sital-Singh returns into this spheres with “21st century heartbeat” (#5).

And as soon I return with the next song by Taylor Swift. Over the week I got really excited with “…Ready for it?” (#6). This week’s climb represents my interest in this song which climbed up 11 spots which marks her as a tied greatest gainer of the week. The other song is “She’s on my mind” (#44) by JP Cooper. But back to the topic. On the one hand Taylor Swift sprinted into the Top 10 Austrian band Tagtraeumer had to drop with “Himmelblaue Couch” (#7, “Sky blue couch”). The other Austrian act in the Top 10 also dropped two spots. So this is definitely the last week in my Top 10 for “Blinder Passagier” (#9, “Blind passenger”) by JackTheBusch. Caught between these songs from my home country is the 2nd Top 10 song by Luke Sital-Singh. “We don’t belong” (#8) is holding its spot. Since this week Kate Voegele has also a double pack in my Top 10. “Sun will rise” (#10) climbed up two spots to reach a spot in this part of my chart.

This week sees 13 new entries. Five of these songs reached my Top 50 and two of these songs are by my core artists. Let’s start with Austrian band Tagtraeumer. Long gone are the days when they participated on the Austrian Casting Show “Herz für Österreich” (“Heart for Austria”). Although they didn’t won they had several hits in Austria and on my chart. This week they return with the latest single from their 2nd album “Unendlich eins” (“Infinitely one”). I first heard “Pfeile” (#31, “Arrows”) when I saw them live in July when they presented their new album, which I’ve to point out is for me better than their debut album which produced several #1’s for me. “Pfeile” is a very good song and should soon join the Top 10 hits from this album.

The other song from a core artist is Pink’s “Beautiful trauma” (#42) which is also the title track from her latest album. I really love this song and for me I would rank this song over “What about us” which recently reached my Top 5. So both “Pfeile” by Tagtraeumer and “Beautiful trauma” are in reach for my Top 10 in a few weeks. “Beautiful trauma” is so far only a promotional single, so it is absolutely possible to find the album’s 2nd single “Revenge” with Eminem very soon on my chart too. “Beautiful trauma” landed directly before the next new entry by an unknown artist from Belgium. OT is covering the Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan song “There for you”. This version never found its way on my chart, but OT’s acoustic cover is in at #43.

The next two new songs in my Top 10 are from lesser known artist. First to mention is “Waiting” (#45) by Jake Bugg feat. Noah Cyrus. This duet is for both singers the first appearance on my chart. When I first listened to this song I knew that this song could do well on my chart. “Waiting” has the 1960’s charm I really like and I hope that this song will reach my Top 20 at least. The other one is Jesse Ware. Up to now she had only one Top 10 hit back with “Say you love me” back in 2015. Now she returns with “Alone” (#48). The outlook is good, but who knows how far this song will go?

Other debuts are the last but not least album cuts from Selena Gomez “Perfect” (#54), “Cologne” (#55) and “Outta my hands (loco)” (#87), “Not my ex” (#86) by Jessie J, “Wrong girl” (#94) by Olivia Lane, “Taboo” (#97) by Typh Barrow, “Une question de couleur” (#98, “A question of color”) by MAD’y, “It’s a shame” (#100) by First Aid Kit.
