Week 347 – October 21st, 2017

For now four weeks “So tied up” (#1) by Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs is holding the top spot on my chart. With this week they are tying this year’s record for having the longest run at #1 with German Wincent Weiss who had been #1 with “Nur einen Herzschlag entfernt” (“Only a heartbeat away”) back in May. While they now can celebrate their run at the top could end soon, because directly behind them is Kelly Clarkson after a three spot climb with “Love so soft” (#2). Because of that Taylor Swift dropped one spot with “Look what you made me do” (#3). Another concurrence for the top spot is “Catch me on fire” (#4) by Kate Voegele. Her latest smash climbed up four spots this week. For Kelly Clarkson “Love so soft” could be her 7th #1 and “Catch me on fire” could be Kate Voegele’s 6th #1. These songs are fighting for next week’s #1, but Austrian band Tagtraeumer has to give up these dreams with “Himmelblaue couch” (#5, “Sky blue couch”).

Back in 2014 Luke Sital-Singh released his debut album “The fire inside”. Three years later I discovered this album via Spotify and the rest is now history. This week he climbed up four spots with “21st century heartbeat” (#6) and he reached the Top 10 with “We don’t belong” (#8) which is now the fourth song out of this album reaching my Top 10 this year including the former #1 “Greatest lovers” (#62). Caught between the Luke Sital-Singh songs is Austrian JakeTheBusch. His song “Blinder Passagier” (#7, “Blind passenger”) dropped three spots. Also dropping three spots are the last but not least two songs in my Top 10. So at the bottom are “What about us” (#9) by Pink and “Hate me” (#10) by Jillian Jacqueline.

This week’s greatest gainer is “You’re the best thing about me” (#37) by U2. This song is definitely their best song since years and I really appreciate this new one. I hope that they will release more songs like this in the future. Speaking about the future brings me to this week’s debuts. Once more you have to dig deep to find the highest debut which is “only” an album cut by Norma Jean Martine who recently topped my chart with “Still in love with you” (#20). This week she could place two more songs on my chart which are “I will never love again” (#76) and “Sons and daughters” (#77). The highest official debut by a single is by Australian newcomer Jordie Ireland with the song “Take cover” (#87).

Other debuts are “Treasure” (#88) by LÉON, “Something hold on to” (#89) by Emily Warren, “Fensterglas” (#90, “Window glass”), “Lights down low” (#96) by Max feat. Gnash, “Still believe in crazy love” (#97) by Ryan Kinder, “Body on fire” (#98) by Maggie Rose and “Old school groove” (#99) by Jo Smith.
