Emma – Sottovoce

Points: 1374.0
Peak: #5
Weeks: 25
Album: Essere qui
Airplay: #19

The third highest ranked song by Emma is “Sottovoce” (“Whisper”). It started its chart run in April and peaked at #5 two months later. The long activity, 25 charting weeks for a song peaking at #5 isn’t very normal on my chart, helped this song to get this respectable chart position.

Christina Stürmer – In ein paar Jahren

Points: 1354.8
Peak: #4
Weeks: 19
Album: Überall zu Hause
Airplay: #35

Normally the first single out of a Christina Stürmer album is reaching the charts in Austria. In 2018 the first single “In ein paar Jahren” (“In a few years”) failed to reach the charts although it got airplay and the views of the official video aren’t bad. Nevertheless I really liked this song and so it got a peak within my Top 5, but on the other hand she had done better in the past.

Annalisa – Le parole non mentono

Points: 1390.7
Peak: #1 (1)
Weeks: 16 (still charting)
Album: Bye bye
Airplay: #101

Over the years I’ve charted a few songs by Italian singer Annalisa. But only in 2018 she had her breakthrough with her album “Bye bye”. Her song “Le parole non mentono” (“Words don’t lie”) hasn’t been released as an official single, but I absolutely love this song so that it reached #1 for a single week in November 2018. For Annalisa it hasn’t only been her first #1 on my chart she also become the first Italian singer beside Emma reaching #1.

Zedd & Maren Morris & Grey – The middle

Points: 1405.1
Peak: #6
Weeks: 25
Album: -
Airplay: #16

Russian born German DJ Zedd had some hits over the years. In 2018 he released probably his best song with “The middle”. In my opinion “The middle” is the best EDM song in 2018. The vocals on this track are by country singer Maren Morris. I’ve not expected to hear a song by her like this, but it definitely worked well. The future will tell if she will leave the country scene more often or this one will be a one-time thing.

Cassadee Pope – One more red light

Points: 1417.6
Peak: #5
Weeks: 19 (still charting)
Album: Stages
Airplay: #18

Country singer Maren Morris left the genre with “The middle”. Next in line is country singer Cassadee Pope. On my country chart her song “One more red light” has spent more than 10 weeks at the top. This song also did well on my regular chart. By the middle of September “One more red light” reached its peak at #5 and become one of her most successful song on my chart so far.

Bishop Briggs – Dream

Points: 1438.8
Peak: #1 (1)
Weeks: 25
Album: Church of scars
Airplay: #38

Back in 2017 British singer Bishop Briggs topped my chart for the first time with “So tied up” when she was featured on the Cold War Kids single. Early in 2018 she reached the #1 for the first time as a solo act. “Dream” is a damn good song which should have been a huge hit, but so it is a undiscovered gem on my chart.

Tagtraeumer – Pfeile

Points: 1441.5
Peak: #1 (4)
Weeks: 29
Album: Unendlich eins
Airplay: #32

Back in my review for 2017 Tagtraeumer reached #24 with their promotional single “Himmelblaue Couch” (“Sky blue couch”). In 2018 also a song by Tagtraeumer can be found at #24. This time it is the bands #1 song “Pfeile” (“Arrows”). Only a split record prevented this song to do even better.

Pink – Beautiful trauma

Points: 1479.4
Peak: #1 (4)
Weeks: 29
Album: Beautiful trauma
Airplay: #40

It is hard to find out if “Beautiful trauma” is a flop in times when streaming songs is definitely more popular than buying an album. The album “Beautiful trauma” hasn’t sold as much copies as her previous albums, but I really like it and I like the single which spent four weeks at the top of my chart.

Matt Cardle – Desire

Points: 1496.1
Peak: #3
Weeks: 22
Album: Time to be alive
Airplay: #23

Four and a half year after the third album has been released the fourth one “Time to be alive” was released. Unfortunately I don’t like this album so it became the first one I’ve not bought. While I don’t like the album the first single out of this album “Desire” did very well on my chart. “Desire” reached #3 in May and refers to better days on my chart.

Luke Sital-Singh – Rough diamonds fall

Points: 1518.2
Peak: #3
Weeks: 21 (still charting)
Album: Time is a riddle
Airplay: #28

Since two years British singer Luke Sital-Singh is a regular guest on my chart with two of his albums. Out of his 2nd album is “Rough diamonds fall”. It is a good song, but it failed to do the last step reaching #1 as some other songs from him did in the past.
