Week 580 – April 9th, 2022

Canada still rules my actual chart. Last week Canadian Tate McRae took over the chart for the first time in her career with “She’s all I wanna be” (#1). This week she is still singing form the top. Unfortunately her follow up single “Chaotic” failed to impress me and won’t reach the chart in the future. This Canadian singer is followed by another singer from Canada. Alyssa Reid climbed up one spot with “Roses” (#2). This is leading to the fact that “In the dark” (#3) by Purple Disco Machine & Sophie and the Giants are down one spot. The rest of the Top 5 is holding its spot. So Kelsea Ballerini & LANY are at #4 with “I quit drinking” and Dylan is at #5 with “No Romeo”.

Near the Top 5 are two more acts from Canada. LØLØ climbed up one spot with Debbie Downer and her partner Maggie Lindemann. Up two spots is Canadian Rain Paris who is well known for her rock covers. Her rock version of “Easy on me” (#7) is now in reach of the Top 5. Next in line and for the first time in the Top 5 is “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#8, “Spark, wildfire”) by Austrian Mathea. She also reached the Top 10 for the first time with “Wenn du mich vermisst” (#12, “If you miss me”) with Fourty. Caught between these two new songs in the Top 10 is Avril Lavigne feat. blackbear with “Love it when you hate me” (#9)

Let’s have a look at the greatest gainer of the week. It is Austrian singer Ben Saber with his 80s inspired song “Heute Nacht” (#40, “Tonight”) which climbed up 20 spots. After pointing this out let’s go to the top debut. Back in 2021 not many songs managed to debut in the Top 20. Some weeks ago Austrian singer Mathea did so with her now Top 10 smash “Funke, Flächenbrand”. This week you can find another one debuting in the Top 20. It is a song by my favourite artist Anouk. Nearly two years ago she debuted for the last time with a regular single. “I love you” was the title of the song which debuted at #51 on April 11, 2020. This song later spent six weeks at the top was one of the most played songs in that year. Now she released her new song “Something better” (#12) which is marking her long-awaited comeback. I definitely hope that this one is the first single from an album in the near future as I badly missed new songs from her.

Pia Mia, “Ein Song reicht” (#96, “One song is enough”) by Kraftklub and “Mon soleil” (#98, “My sun”) by Ashley Park.
