Week 637 – May 13th, 2023

It’s definitely not my year in music. In total the numbers of songs I listened dropped drastically. Last year I listened to nearly 7600 songs until 13th May. This year the numbers are nearly 1700 songs lower including a day without listening to music which is the first in about two years. Nevertheless, this week shows 23 debuts which is no record. 100 weeks ago (week 542) I set a record with 28 debuts. So much about statics let’s dive into this week’s edition.

Last week Alexa Cappelli took over for the first time in her career. This week she defended the title with “Temporary” (#1). Still behind is “Engel” (#2, “Angel”) by 1986zig. Up one spot and swapping spots is “River” (#3). Therefore Miley Cyrus’ other song “Flowers” (#4) had to leave the Top 3. New in the Top 5 is a country pop song by Carrie Underwood. Her song “Velvet heartbreak” (#5) climbed up two spots to reach a spot within this part of the chart.

While “Velvet heartbreak” is now in the Top 5 Dylan Conrique had to leave this part with her #1 hit “Ugly” (#6) after dropping one spot. Also dropping one spot is K-Pop “Underwater” (#7) by Kwon Eun Bi. Next in line is another song from Carrie Underwood’s album “Denim & rhinestones”. “Burn” (#8) climbed up eight spots. The next two songs in the Top 10 dropped each one spot. The higher ranked one is former #1 “Nie wieder sehen” (#9, “Never see again”) by JuJu. The other one is “Auf die Party” (#9, “To the party”) by badmómszjay x Domiziana.

As last week the award for the greatest gainer of the week is going to Alana Springsteen with her song “Girlfriend” (#30). This week the song only climbed up ten spots. As mentioned above this week saw 23 debuts. Only two of these songs managed to debut within in the Top 50. The highest debut is by Austrian singer Esther Graf and German rapper Fourty. Their song “Renn zurück” (#42, “Run back”) is nothing typical for both of them, but I really like this song and so I believe that there is a good chance for “Renn zurück” to reach the Top 10. The 2nd highest debut is “How does it feel” (#46) by Tom Grennan. Although this song is getting some airplay in Austria I don’t believe that “How does it feel” will enter the charts. I personally like this one and it should do well in the future.
