Week 656 – September 23rd, 2023

Once more I’ve no new #1 to present. It is still “Du und L.A.” (#1, “You and L.A.”) by German singer Clueso. Interestingly, I first heard of him by one of my students in my first year of teaching. Often when I’m listening to songs by him, I remember this class from 2007. I hope that they all made their way and are happy with their lives. That’s about flashbacks. Let’s get back to the chart. Still in the hunt is “Alles und mehr” (#2, “Everything and more”) by Tagtraeumer. New in the Top 3 is “Summer fling” (#3) by Chloe Jane. This song replaced “I can see you” (#4) by Taylor Swift. “Lovesong” (#5) by Madeline Juno got its first week in the Top 5.

For “Lovesong” (#6) Taylor Swift’s “The very first night” (#5) had to leave this part of the chart. Each of the next three songs in the Top 10 climbed up one spot. They are “Sofia” (#7) by Fiio, “Superbloodmoon” (#8) by Holly Humberstone feat. d4vd and “We’re not in love anymore” (#9) by Knox feat. Charlotte Sands. Maybe in its last week in the Top 10 is “Psychopath” (#10) by Morgan Wade.

This week two songs got awarded for the greatest gainer. The higher ranked one is “Mi amor” (#38, “My love”) by AUT of ORDA feat. José Sunazlos. The other one is “Give you love” (#49) by Jessica Mauboy feat. Jasonn Derulo. The highest debut is by Italian The Kolors. Their song “Italodisco” (#60) is a big surprise hit here in Austria where it is on heavy rotation. Finally, I sprinted on the bandwagon and now it is the highest debut. The 2nd best debut is by The Rolling Stones with their recent single “Angry” (#61). I’m not a big fan of their stuff, but this one is really good, so I’m expecting a big climb by next week.
