Week 654 – September 9th, 2023

“The very first night” (#4) spent only one week at the top and dropped three spots. New at the top is “You & L.A” (#1) by German singer Clueso. For him it is the first solo #1 and the first time topping the chart since his cooperation with Die Fantastischen Vier on their track “Zusammen” (“Together”). “Zusammen” had been #1 in April 2018 and topped the chart for four weeks. Still in the hunt is former #1 “Alles und mehr” (“everything and more”) by Tagtraeumer. Because of the big drop with “The very first night” Taylor Swifts highest ranked song is now “I can see you” (#3). New in the Top 5 is Chloe Jane with her song “Summer fling” (#5)

“Summer fling” replaced “Through your eyes” (#6) by Morgan Wade. Unfortunately, I hadn’t time to drive to Munich to see her live. Maybe there is another chance in the future. Also dropping one spot are “What I want” (#7) by Lena and “Psychopath” (#8) by Morgan Wade. Next in line and up one spot is “Die besten Dinge” (#9) by Juli. Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is “Lovesong” (#10) by Madeline Juno.

At least I had expected “Used to be young” (#74) to get the award for the greatest gainer of the week. This song by Miley Cyrus climbed up 17 spots and there is room to get this award next week to. On the most editions of my chart the greatest gainer can be found above or near the highest debut, but not this week. This week saw the return of Roxanne Emery. She is no household name on my chart, but she had one hit before. Back in 2014 she was featured on the Dash Berlin track “Shelter” which peaked at #4 in December 2014. Since she had that hit, she changed her stage name to RØRY. Now she returned with her latest single “The apology I’ll never receive” (#19) and managed to land in the Top 20 with a great outlook. I love the song and the message and I’m sure that this song will end in the Top 10.

The 2nd best debut is by US singer David Archuleta. His song “Afraid to love” (#60) is very catchy and should do well. Other debuts are “Long story short” (#61), “Cowboy like me” (#61), “Ivy” (#80) all by Taylor Swift, “Life’s a bitch” (#75) by TAELA, “Midnight FM” (#84) by PRIZM, “Teen” (#85) by Dilla, “Making it up as I go” (#86) by Kylie Morgan, “Nach den schlechten Tagen” (#91) by Esther Graf, “Gatekeeper” (#92) by Dylan Conrique, “Now or never” (#93) by Anastacia and “Red dress” (#97) by Sophia Scott.
