Week 722– December 28th, 2024

 Her it is, the first chart for the new charting year. It all starts with a new #1. South Korean singer ROSÉ scores her 1st solo #1 with “Number one girl” (#1). It took this song only six weeks to reach the top spot of the chart. I really love this one and I can imagine that this one will be one of the most played songs in 2025. Dropping one spot is “Dancing in a hurricane” (#2) by Freya Ridings which had been #1 for the last three weeks. Still in the Top 3 is another singer from BLACKPINK. LISA’s homage “Moonlit floor” (#3) to Sixpence Non the Richers “Kiss me” is holding its spot. Directly behind is once more “That’s so true” (#4) by Gracie Abrams which still has a chance to top the chart soon. Down three spots is “Lieb dich, hass dich” (#5, “Love you, hate you”) by Revelle.

The next five songs in the Top 10 are all non-moving in this edition. In at #6 is former #1 “Ghost me” by Holly Humberstone. This one is followed by another former #1 at #7 which is “Ich mag dich” (“I like you”) by LEA. When Federhall got their debut on my chart I said that I would check out their older singles. This week I had some time, but in my eyes the time had been wasted. None of their singles before or after “Melodiös” (#8, “Melodic”) have the potential to chart. So, for the moment I will consider them as one-hit wonder. Next in line is “Träum” (#9, “Dream”) by Lemo. The Top 10 will be rounded out by Freya Ridings’ “Blood orange” (#10).

Last week German-Italian singer Luca Vasta was awarded with the greatest gainer for her song “Baby tu” (#17, “Baby you”) after climbing up 22 spots. This week she got the award again for “Baby tu” after climbing up 20 spots. If she continues she will reach the Top 10 very soon. The highest entry is by US singer KNOW who had earlier in the year a big hit on my chart. Finally, he returns with songs from his late 2023 EP “I’m so good at being alone?”. The highest debut is “Love letter” (#52) by him. His regular single “Not The 1975” (#53) debuted one spot behind. The third highest debut is also from this EP. It is “Miss when you missed me” (#59) by him and Indie Pop act Nightly.

Other debuts are “Appetite” (#85) by Great Good Fine OK & Danielle Bradbery, “Let’s talk” (#86) by Great Good Fine OK & Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, “Taugenichts” (#89, “Good-for-nothing”) by georgustav, “Du fehlst mir nicht” (#90, “I don’t miss you”) by katlix and “Küss mich doch” (#98, “Kiss me”) by Shirin David which is more Schlager than Rap and the lyrics are definitely more on the cringe side, but the composition is covering up a little bit – but I can’t help to like this song as much as I charted it.
