Week 773 – December 20th, 2025

The last weekend before Xmas is ending and with that in mind this is the last edition counting for the year-end of 2025. Taylor Swift is still at the top with “The fate of Ophelia” (#1). I hadn’t been sure all week long, but in the end, it got one more week at the top. At the runner’s up spot is once more “Mittelfinger an die Welt” (#2, “Middle finger to the world”) by Paula Engels. “Eyes closed” (#3) by Jisoo & Zayn is up one spot into the Top 3. I could write that this one is clear #1 hit, but as with “The fate of Ophelia” I’m not so sure. For the moment I’m insecure which song will be my #1. This is the first time I remember that I have no feeling which one will become #1 long before a song will end up at the top. Down one is former #1 “Unsterblich sein” (#4, “Be immortal”) by Kraftklub feat. Domiziana. Non-moving is “I’m not there for you” (#5) by Jessie Murph.

Alessia Cara and Julia Michaels with their song “Nighttime thing” (#7) are up one spot and knocking at the door to the Top 5. Hopefully they are doing it better than “Kippenlänge” (#12, “Cigarette's length”) by Esther Graf which dropped six spots in this week’s edition and had to leave the Top 10. New in this part is “Wieso” (#7, “Why”) by Esther Graf. It climbed up 13 spots and outperformed the other new song “XXL” (#8) by LANY in this part which climbed up five spots. “Blowing smoke” (#9) by Gracie Abrams bounced back again with one spot climb. Last but not least is “Breakfast over breakup” (#10) by Avery Anna in the Top 10.

LEA is awarded for the greatest gainer with “Ich bin” (#69, “I’m”) after climbing up 18 spots. In the Top 50 there are two debuts. The highest one is by Canadian act Crash Adams who had some minor hits this year. I know that this one is a little bit older (it is a single from earlier this year), but I gave them a shot and so it came that “New heart” (#41) got its debut finally in this last chart of the year. The other debut is by German singer Leony. Her song “Don’t worry” (#48) a lightweight of a song, but I really like it. I’m sure that both songs will end in the Top 20 over the next weeks.

The highest debut outside the Top 50 is by flowerovlove. This young British singer is releasing singles since 2020. With “I’m your first” (#53) she is scoring her chart debut. With this song in petto I listened to her older work too. Unfortunately, her songs didn’t impress me that much that I think she has only the potential to become a one-hit-wonder on my chart. Anaïs returns after some minor hits with her latest single “Juli” (#63, “July”). Definitely a song title you don’t expect in winter, but she is singing about missing the sun during the winter days. I believe that this song could do very well in the next week.
