Week 794 – May 23rd, 2026

Another week in music leads to a second chart topping week by Japanese singer Ayane. Her song “ごめんね“ (#1, “I’m sorry”) is in my eyes so catchy and I really like the meaning behind the lyrics. New at the podium is another surprising song. It is “Moonlight” (#2) by Jung Soyeon. She is in the business since 2014, but this one is her first appearance on my chart. Rather sooner than later this song will take over. Hopefully she won’t be remembered as one-hit-wonder. Holding its spot in the Top 3 is former #1 “Dance alone” (#3) by Zior Park. ForWendy this week is a little bit sad as her #1 hit “Daydream” (#4) dropped one spot. Former #1 “To love somebody” by Holly Humberstone is still doing well with holding the spot in the Top 5.

Up one spot is Austrian singer Esther Graf with her song “Wie schön” (#6, “How beautiful”). Next week she should be in the Top 5. In her shadow Holly Humberstone is climbing up with the title track “Cruel world” (#7) of her 2nd album. Down four spots is fromis_9 with “Like you better” (#8). Next in line are two new songs in the Top 10. The higher ranked one is country pop by Ella Langley with her song “Monsters” (#9). The other one is Moon Byul from Mamamoo with her song “Goodbyes and sad eyes” (#10) which has grown on me over the last weeks and earns this Top 10 spot.

This week’s greatest gainer is by K-Pop band KiiiKiii with their single “Go on” (#54) from the soundtrack to the K-Drama Perfect crown. Yesterday I saw the last two episodes of the show which I liked, but the end hadn’t been satisfying. “Go on” climbed up 20 spots. Another K-Drama I watched the last two weeks had been Still shining – and yes, I watched a lot of dramas not think the entire time about my dad. This show produced five debuts in this week’s edition. The highest one is the title track “Love spark” (#77) by O.WHEN. The others are “Shining” (#78) by KIM PUREUM, “First love” (#79) by JEONG SEWOON, “Somehwere only we know” (#81) by Kim Suyoung and “My heart, to you” (#84) Rothy.

Still shining isn’t the only K-Drama producing new hits in this week’s edition. Sold out on you is debuting with two songs. The higher ranked one is “Missing you today” (#83) by GUMMY. The other on is “I see you” (#91) by Heize. Still the highest ranked song from this drama is “Love is enough” (#82) by NAYEON. Then there is the K-Drama Absolute value of romance. Here the title track “Real fantasy” (#93) by VIOLA is debuting as well as “Sweet & sour” (#94) by SAY MY NAME who recently had a minor hit with “UFO (ATTENT!ON)”.

Other debuts are “Ironic” (#69) by Avril Lavigne, “Vicky Lynn” (#70), “How to clear a room” (#71), “You can’t hurt me” (#72) all by Anouk, “Mr. Know it all” (#85) by Teddy Swims, “Fremd auf der Party” (#90, “Stranger at the party”) by Florian Künstler x SOPHIA, “Hotline” (#97) by XO and “Stargirls” (#100) by verifiziert & Emma Rose.
