Week 103 – February 16th, 2013

A song which is blowing me away is taking over my chart. “Torpedo” by Jillette Johnson took only three weeks to lead the pack. For me personally meets the theme of this song absolutely for my current working situation. Apart from that I would also like this song so much. Reaching the #1 spot means that Taylor Swift dropped down one spot with “I knew you were trouble.”. While the podium is completed by Alanis Morissette. “Receive” gets more attention on Austrian or German radio stations and on TV in these days so it could stay for a few more weeks in the Top 10 on my chart. Also doing well is Three Days Grace who are reaching the Top 5 with “The high road” (#4). Two songs are new in the Top 10. Finally “Angel” (#9) by 77 Bombay Street made it and for the first time Matt Cardle has two Top 10 hits at the same time with “Letters (#6) and “Sparks” (#10).

At #11 you can find the German Eurovision Song Contest song for 2013. It’s Cascada with “Glorious” which could be the bands next big hit. And if “Just give me a reason” (#15) is finally released as a single in Europe Pink and Nate Ruess could enter my Top 10. Another act which is trying to get their next top hit are The Goo Goo Dolls. “All that you are” had been the bands biggest hit so far by reaching #7 in 2011. “Rebel beat” (#19) is on its way up the chart and has a good future outlook. The greatest gainer of the week comes from German newcomer Elif. With her debut single “Unter meiner Haut” (#56) she climbed up 37 spots.

Let’s start with the new entries. This week you find a total of 13 new entries including seven new songs from my home country Austria. On Friday the qualification show “Österreich rockt den Song Contest” for the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö took place. Four out of five candidates placed their singles on my chart. I think these songs aren’t the best we could have sent. So these songs debut very low. The highest of them is “Give me a sign” (#92) by Elija. His start took my to his 2012 leading single “Out of use” of his album “Beautiful but incomplete. “Out of use” (#79) gives it’s debut a little bit higher. Then there is the winner of this contest. Natália Kelly is fresh young R&B singer, but at the moment I’m a little bit unsure about “Shine” (#95). The other songs from this competion are “Rise above the night” (#96) by Falco Luneau who had been a contestant by the Austrian Show “Starmania” back in 2006 and a member of the boy band Jetzt anders! (Now different!), and “Back to fantasy” (#98) by the dance act The Bandaloops.

And there are two more Austrian new entries. The highest is “A thousand goodbyes” (#58) by the new rock band Experience. And finally Excuse Me Moses finished their work on their new album “III” which took more than a year. Their first single “My friend” (#75) has been released some weeks ago is now on my list. The other new entries are “Let there be love” (#64) by Christina Aguilera, “Losin’ you” (#78) by Gjan, “Push play” (#83) by Miriam Bryant, “This night” (#91) by Booty Luv, “Change” (#93) by Finn Martin and “Young heart” (#94) by We Are The Ocean.
