Week 107 – March 16th, 2013

Just handful songs stayed at the top spot longer than “Torpedo”. For Jillette Johnson it's her fifth week a the top in a row. Behind her Three Days Grace with the incredible “The high road” (#2) and Taylor Swift with “I knew you were trouble.” (#3) changed the positions. These songs are followed by “Just give me a reason” (#4) and once more a Top 5 hit “Receive”. This week Alanis Morissette scores beside “Receive” a new Top 10 hit. “Lens” (#9) climbed up three spots to a new peak. This isn’t the only new song in my Top 10. Kelly Clarkson’s “Hello” (#8) is her 7th top hit from her “Stronger” album. These songs replaced “Because we can” (#11) by Bon Jovi and “Angel” (#12) by 77 Bombay Street.

The invasion of German songs in my chart is going into a new round. Newcomer Elif is so far the highest act with a song in German. “Unter meiner Haut” (#15, “Under my skin”) is still climbing up the chart and is now in a position where a Top 10 hit is in range. Elif is followed by Lauter Leben (“Pure Life”). They released their first EP in 2008. With their debut single “Es ist soweit” (#21, “The time has come”) from their debut album “Richtung morgen” (“Direction tomorrow”) they reached this weeks highest new entry. And there are two more rising German songs within my Top 30. German rapper Fard gave his debut last week with a cooperation with US singer Bobby V.. Their song “Zu spät / I remember when” sprinted to #25. Sprinting is the right word to describe Bosse’s chart run. Last week “Schönste Zeit” (#28, “Best time”) was the greatest gainer of the week. This week Bosse got the award again.

In addition to the songs from Austrias neighbour country Austria also has some possible future hits in this countdown. Saint Lu who participated in the German Eurovision preselection is climbing up with “Craving” (#26). And the second best new entry comes from the Austrian rock band Cardiac Move. Their charity single “Woman of Samaria” (#51) failed to reach the bands first Top 50 hit by one spot in their debut week. A little bit an outsider is “Coming back tomorrow” (#78) by Mary Broadcast Band. The hook line is good so who knews maybe they could score a Top 40 hit.

Among this weeks new entries there are three more songs which I shouldn’t forget. The first is Demi Lovato’s new single. “Heart attack” (#61) is different from her last singles, but still good. As she scored two Top 100 year-end hits before. This song should be on your list. The second comes from British newcomer Passenger. “Let her go” (#62) took awhile to go to my heart, but last weeks Top 10 debut (this week he shot straight to #1) in Austria and massive radio airplay helped. And the third song is “You remember” (#63). Gentleman had several hits in Germany before. This one could be his next.

The other debuts are “Fire” (#90) by Zoë Alexis Bohorquez, “The game” (#93) by Noonie Bao, “No freedom” (#95) by Dido, “Beam me up” (#96) by Cazzette, “Dynamite” (#97) by Malene Q and “The sun for me” (#100) by Navel.
