Week 127 – August 3rd, 2013

Two years ago “Hot summer night” by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals reached my Top 5 and hold this spot for two weeks. With really hot summer nights behind and to come there is a new hot summer song leading my chart. For the first time Rising Girl feat. DJ Lil Dirty reached the #1 spot. Their song “I know you’ll wait for me” has a very catchy sing-along refrain. This song is also the second by an Austrian band to reach #1 within a calendar year which is for now a record. They prevented One Direction clone Satin Circus to come back with their stunning debut “Emma” (#2). Last week’s #1 “It’s only love” (#3) by Matt Cardle dropped down two. In general the Top 10 hasn’t seen a lot of action this week. Sure there are some position changes, but there is only one new song within. It’s “All over now” (#10) by Daniel Baron for whom it is his first Top 10 smash hit.

Alanis Morissette is on her way to reach another Top 10 hit. Her latest smash “Spiral” (#12) jumped up 15 spots which brings her a perfect position for next week to get in the Top 10. By the way Kelly Clarkson has now three songs within the best 15 songs of my chart. This is absolute fantastic, because the chance is high to see one or two of these songs in next week’s Top 10. Behind Kelly Clarkson South Korean girl band 9Muses is going to stalk on a future place in the top section. “Wild” (#18) climbed up 6 spots. Maybe 9Muses are the first South Korean band to reach the Top 10 since last fall where 2ne1 peaked at #7 with "I love you" and Wonder Girls reached the Top 5 with "Like money".

Last week Ricky Martin debuted with his latest single “Come with me” (#29) as fourth highest new entry. This week he let all other last week’s debuts behind and is now the greatest gainer of the week with this song. Not far behind is this week’s highest debut. It is “Going insane” (#32) by Mic Donet. This album track is one of my favourite song from his “Plenty of love” album. Therefore a Top 10 hit is predestined for this song. The second best debut is the highest official single debut. It’s “Best I ever had” (#51) by Gavin DeGraw. With this debut he matched his chart peak with “Not over you” back in January 2012.

Amongst this week’s debuts there are three more songs which are non-official singles and one more album track by Mic Donet. Let’s start with the non-official singles. Last year Haley Reinhart peaked at #22 with “Free”. Unfortunately she has been dropped by her record label, so there will be no second official single. Therefore I decided to chart “Wasted tears” (#63) which brings her a solid debut. The next one is “Walk man” (#73) by Ivy Quainoo. At the moment she is working at her sophomore album and a new single called “Wildfires (light it up)” is up to release within the next weeks. I always waited that she is going to release “Walk man” as a regular or promotional single. Sadly there is no chance, but on my list you can now find this song. The last non-official single is “Good boy” (#95) by Dia Frampton.
