Week 136 – October 5th, 2013

After weeks with fewer changes in the Top 5 this week there is a “bigger” leap. Avril Lavigne grabs her first #1 with “Rock N Roll”. In its 8th week since the Top 10 debut she is putting up her middle finger the rest of the chart. The video to the song is still bad, but that doesn’t matter because I like this song. After four weeks at the top Selena Gomez dropped one with “Slow down” (#2). Anouk is completing the podium with “Pretending as always” (#3). Behind this songs there are some position changes and one new song. It’s “Cameron” (#9) by Jillette Johnson. This is her third song from her “Water in a whale” album which reaches the Top 10. At the moment she has two songs in the Top 10.

A better chance than others to reach next week’s Top have Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran with their song “Everything has changed”. This song is totally different from Taylor Swift latest #1 hits on my chart. But here different is good. If she is going for #1 for a third time will show, but I’m sure that “Everything has changed” can reach the Top 5. Also on the short list for next week’s Top 10 is the British duet “Loving you” by Matt Cardle & Melanie C. This has been Matt Cardle’s first single which was released in Austria too. Due to this release his 2nd album - I’m charting at the moment - has also been released in September. And Xfer told me about his latest single from his third album “Porcelain” which is also released here. But I decided to chart the songs from “The fire” first before I’m going with the next singles and songs from “Porcelain”.

The highest debut comes from a German girl who is entering the music scene with her first single. Madeline Juno’s debut “Error” (#38) is a very good song and has its similarities with Swedish newcomer Zara Larsson who entered my Top 10 earlier this year with her breakthrough hit “Uncover”. If she is getting airplay in Germany and every sign is showing at the moment that she receives it then she can have a very big hit. Similar to Zara Larsson who peaked #1 and stayed for 14th weeks in the Top 10 in Sweden. Meanwhile Emma scored the greatest gainer with “Dimentico tutto” (#34). Her other last week’s debut “Amami” (#37) also climbed up the chart very fast.

The second best new entries comes from a relatively new British Indie Pop band called London Grammar. In UK they had two chart hits with “Metal & dust” and “Wasting my young years”. Both songs failed to reach my chart. The third single from their “If you wait” album is their chart debut for me. “Strong” (#52) is a very strong and reduced song with I fall in love with the very first listen. Sure the debut is outside the Top 50, but this song is ready for entering the Top over the next weeks. The Goo Goo Dolls are also giving a notable debut this week. Their 2nd single “Come to me” (#63) has also a good chance to improve, because they brought every charted song in my Top 10 so far.
