Week 137 – October 12th, 2013

Avril Lavigne only stayed one week at the top of my chart. But once more a female artist took over the chart. This time it is Anouk with her fifth #1 overall (a new chart record) and her first this year. “Pretending as always” is a very strong song from her “Sad singalong songs” album. So Avril Lavigne dropped two with “Rock N Roll” (#3). Between these two songs Selana Gomez with “Slow down” (#2) can be found. Generally my Top 10 is growing a little bit older as usual. Only four songs stayed fewer than 10 weeks on my chart and two more are reaching this mark next week. Maroon 5 had to leave the Top 10 with “Love somebody” (#12). Maroon 5 was replaced by Tayler Swift feat. Ed Sheeran with “Everything has changed” (#9).

The highest new entry comes from the big European island called Great Britain. While Jessie J’s first single from her second album flopped on my chart and didn’t chart. Her 2nd one “It’s my party” (#40) is this week highest debut. It’s a good song with a catchy refrain which I absolutely like. Not far behind two songs are rising up the chart with the same speed. Goo Goo Dolls with “Come to me” (#46) and Revolverheld with “Das kann uns keiner nehmen” (#47) climbed up 17 spots and are the greatest gainer of the week.

“It’s my party” is the only debut within the Top 50. The next best debut is “Paralyzed” (#66) by Swedish Jasmine Kara. Earlier this year she had a Top 20 hit with “Can’t lie to me”. With this song she turned around her style and she is going on with the change on “Paralyzed”. I definitely enjoy this new single and hope that this song is doing as well als “Can’t lie to me”. Two spots behind is the latest single by Olly Murs. “Dear darling” is dominating the Austrian chart at the moment, but I don’t like this song so it failed to debut on my chart. The situation is different for “Right place right time” (#68) which is in my opinion a good choice for a single and in general a better song, if I can say something, than “Dear darling”. And a new boy band is debuting on my chart too. They are called “The Vamps” and reached #2 in UK with “Can we dance” (#73). The song has something special I can’t name at the moment, but I think it will improve next week. By the way this song was co-written by Bruno Mars and Espen Lind.

Other new entries are “Without you” (#78) by Carmen & Camille, “Last soul on earth” (#78) by Miriam Bryant, “Hunter” (#84) by Sandra van Nieuwland, “Jukebox love” (#90) by Lena Fayre, “Unbreakable” (#92) by Laurell, “It’s alright not to feel OK (#96, originally released under “Forget me knots” in Ireland 2012) by Heathers, “Yeah oh” (#97) by Yabisi and “Do you love me” (#100) by 2ne1.
