Week 193 – November 8th, 2014

My favourite singer Anouk only stayed for two week at the top with “Places to go” (#3). This week “Places to go” dropped two spots to round out this weeks Top 3. New at the sun shining spot is Taylor Swift. With the leading single of her 5th album “1989” she is now leading the pack. “Shake it off” (#1) took the last step by climbing up one spot. In the shadow of Taylor Swift Hilary Duff is climbing up again. “All about you” (#2) hasn’t lost its fascination and is stepping in the fight for the #1 spot again. New Zealand act Broods changed the place with Walk the Moon so that “Everytime” is now at #4 while “Shut up and dance” (#5) is completing the Top 5.

Finally Maroon 5 reached the spot behind the Top 5. Their latest smash “Animals” (#6) climbed up two spots to a new peak. Slowly but surely Matt Cardle is climbing up the chart with “When you were my girl” (#7). This week his 2nd official single of his 3rd album “Porcelain” climbed up two spots and there is still no end in sight. Maybe he could go into the Top 3, but I don’t see this song at #1, because … . More of Matt Cardle at a later point of this review. “Dancing as one” (#8) by Nick Howard is the last climber in this weeks Top 10. Nick Howard’s latest hit climbed up two spots and refers Juli and Fitz and The Tantrums to the last spots in my Top 10. Former #1 “Insel” (#9) hasn’t lost its easy listening, but the time is running out for this song in this part of the chart. Surely in its last week in the Top 10 is “Fools gold” (#10). A really cool song which hasn’t had the smooth for a #1 on my chart.

At the moment Madi Diaz’s fresh alternative single “Stay together” (#11) is among my most played songs. The signs identify her as a future star on my chart who could dominate 2015. This week “Stay together” climbed up another 12 spots and finished one spot behind the Top 10. Nothing can prevent this song to enter this part next week. The highest debut is by Matt Cardle. His 3rd single from “Porcelain” “Hit my heart” (#15) got off to an impressive debut. Not a lot of his single entered directly the Top 20 with such an impressive outlook. Noticed for his slowly climbs “Hit my heart” could be quite the opposite. Reaching the top spot within a few weeks is absolutely makeable. But “Hit my heart” isn’t the only debut of “Porcelain”. “In chains” (#55) had a solid debut just outside the Top 50 where you find this week’s greatest gainer which is “Timebomb” (#26) by Pink.

This week only saw five debut which is the lowest number of debuts for quite a long time. Beside the two debuts by Matt Cardle Against The Current with “Gravity” (#84), Mikey Wax with “Only one” (#85) and U2 with “Every breaking wave” (#86) gave their debut.
