Week 336 – August 5th, 2017

What interests me my chatter from yesterday? Last week I wrote that it will be hard for Carly Rae Jepsen to reach her 1st #1 on my chart and that there will be a better chance for Kate Voegele. So this week Carly Rae Jepsen did the final step and reached her first #1 with “Cut to the feeling”. This cute song definitely deserves to be at #1 which is the 17th this year in the 31st week. Kate Voegele’s “Don’t count me out” (#2) is also up one spot and now in the runner’s up position. Because of these two climbers last week’s #1 “Greatest lovers” (#3) by Luke Sital-Singh dropped two spots. Back in my Top 5 is Portuguese singer Aurea for the first time in years. Her album cut “Killer” (#4) climbed up two spots. Could it be that “Killer” will be her 2nd #1 on my chart? Her one and only #1 had been “OK, alright” back in 2011. Still in the Top 5 is Lady Gaga with “The cure” (#5).

Also down one spot is “Unendlich gleich” (#6, “Infinitely the same”) by Tagtraeumer & Chrissi Klug. This week they released the next promo single and finally their 2nd album “Unendlich eins” (“Infinitely one”). Directly behind this Austrian song there is the next song by Kate Voegele. With “World stops spinning” (#4) she climbed up four spots to reach the Top 10 in its 9th week on chart. “World stops spinning” is the only new track within my Top 10. This new song is followed by another track by Luke Sital-Singh. “Nothing stays the same” (#8) climbed up one spot. On the other side former #1’s “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#9) by Shawn Mendes and “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#10, “Only a heartbeat away”) by Wincent Weiss dropped two spots.

This week sees an amazing 19 debuts, but only one song reached a debut within in my Top 50. And who else could it be than Austrian band Tagtraeumer in these days. They released their 2nd promo single “Himmelblaue Couch” (#33, “Sky blue couch”) some days before they released their new album. “Himmelblaue Couch” is another big song from this band. This song is about a guy who is still dreaming about the life in a new home with the sky blue couch with the girl of his dreams. But the separated their ways and she now has a home with another man, but no sky blue couch. This song is brilliant written and should join my Top 20 soon. There their other promo single “Straßenlaternen” (#12, “Street lights”) is knocking at the door to the Top 10.

The next best debut is by Madeline Juno. With her song “Stupid girl” (#29) she is still climbing up my chart, but this week she debuts with her first song in German. “Gift” (#61, “Poison”) has nearly the same theme as my former #1 “Wasn’t easy” (#26) by GJan. Over the last year Madeline Juno has released several songs in German, but “Gift” is her first one reaching my chart. Directly behind Madeline Juno there are two promo singles by Jillette Johnson are debuting. These singles are “Flip a coin” (#62) and “Bunny” (#63). Last Friday she released her 2nd album “All I ever see in you is me”. While I absolutely love her debut album “Water in a whale” this one is very different. The whole album is stripped down to her voice and little instrumentation. Right at the moment I’m not sure if this album will work as good as “Water in a whale” for me, but over the last week “Love is blind” (#17) reached my most played songs easily. So maybe this album will produce some more hits for me.
