Week 341 – September 9th, 2017

Last week Taylor Swift surprised with a big debut. This week she made another big step, but “Look what you made me do” (#2) failed to reach #1. Certainly Norma Jean Martine lost the top spot after one week. “Still in love with you” (#3) dropped two spots. So the way was free for the first Austrian #1 this year. Tagtraeumer reached the summit with “Straßenlaternen” (#1, “Street lights”). It’s the bands first #1 since “Nichts” (“Nothing”) back in December 2015 and their 5th overall. On #4 you can find the former #1 “Killer” by Portuguese singer Aurea. The Top 5 rounding out are the well known Cold War Kids. Their song “So tied up” (#5) with Bishop Briggs climbed up three spots and could be the bands 2nd #1 hit this year, but Taylor Swift and Tagtraeumer have very strong songs out and so it will definitely be a tough decision.

The 2nd part of my Top 10 starts with another song by Tagtraeumer. Their single “Himmelblaue Couch” (#6, “Sky blue couch” ) sprinted up four spots. By next week they could have two Top 5 hits. Next in line is “Don’t count me out” (#7) by Kate Voegele. This song is followed by Aurea’s 2nd song in my Top 10. “Blind woman” (#8) dropped two spots. Also down two spots is “Cut to the feeling” (#9) by Carly Rae Jepsen. Here I’m still asking myself when the world is making this song a super hit. It’s definitely a shame that she will always be reduced to “Call me maybe”. Up four spots and into the Top 10 is Madeline Juno with “Gift” (#10). It’s her first song in German reaching this part of my chart and it is absolutely possible that “Gift” will outperform her biggest chart hit “Vertigo” (peaked at #8 back in January 2015). Since two weeks she has another single out. “Halt mich fest” (“Hold me tight”) is a very reduced song, but during the whole song autotune is used and so this song is in my eyes crap.

Looking over my chart this week you'll find out that the 2nd tranche of songs of Luke Sital-Singh’s 2014 album “The fire inside” is giving its debut including this weeks highest debut. “21st century heartbeat” (#51) just failed to enter my Top 50. This will surely happen next week. And he placed another song directly behind. “We don’t belong” (#52) the other strong song from this debuts. His other debuts are “Everything is making you” (#66), “Lilywhite” (#81), “Nearly morning” (#85) and “I have been a fire” (’87). The best debut from an artist who isn’t Luke Sital-Singh is by British superstar Ed Sheeran. His latest single “Perfect” (#63) got a solid debut. Other debuts are “Herzschlag” (#64) by Jones, “Please don’t lie” (#65) by Hugo Helmig and “Selfish love” (#90) by Jessie Ware.
