Week 366 – March 3rd, 2018

This week Luke Sital-Singh pushed into the illustrious circle of artists who replaced themselves at the top of my chart. Anouk did it 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017. Adele (2011) and Leslie Clio (2015) did it only ones and now Luke Sital-Singh is the first male singer who is replacing himself at the top of my chart. Last week’s #1 “Still” (#3) dropped two spots while “Killing me” (#1) climbed up one. Caught in the middle is “Dancing” (#2) by Kylie Minogue which could end the Luke Sital-Singh run at the top by next week. These songs are followed by a Kate Voegele triple. “Bad bad drug” (#4) is holding its spot. Former #1 “Shoot this arrow” (#5) dropped two spots while “Crooked road” (#6) rose up two spots. The “last” song which climbed up within the Top 10 is “Alles sind wir” (#7, “Everything are we”) by Tagtraeumer. They are followed by former #1 “Dream” (#8) by Bishop Briggs. Next in line is the only new song in this part of my chart. “Strangers” (#9) by Sigrid sprinted up nine spots. This is her first Top 10 hit with her first chart appearance. The Top 10 is rounded out with the German song “Haarspray” (#10, “Hair spray”) by Jennifer Rostock.

Outside the Top 10 two songs are heavily knocking at the door to this part of my chart. Both songs are in their 4th week on chart and sprinted up nine spots. First to mention is the German-American cooperation “The middle” (#11) by German-producer Zedd, US-producer Grey and US country singer Maren Morris. For Zedd and Maren Morris “The middle” could be a Top 10 return while Grey could enter this part for the first time. The other song is “Hurt somebody” (#12). It is a song by US singer Noah Kahan. For this single release he teamed up with Julia Michaels who gained attention for the first time with her 2017 hit “Issues” which I never charted. So for them “Hurt somebody” is their first hit on my chart and now they are on their way to enter my Top 10. Sure there are some more songs who could enter my the Top 10, but these two songs are in the best position to do it by next week.

Before I start with the new entries let’s look to this week’s greatest gainer. Last week it had been “Wild hearts can’t be broken” (#42) by Pink with 12 spot climb. This week it is again “Wild hearts can’t be broken”, but this week Pink climbed up 20 spots with this song. This song is leading the top three new entries of the week. The highest new entry is by an Australian band that rose to fame with “She looks so perfect” back in 2014 which hit #1 in the UK. Since these days they had several hits, but until today they failed to enter my chart. This week all changed with their new single “Want you back” (#43). 5 Seconds of Summer finally got their hit on my chart and because of the fact that this song is the highest new entry “Want you back” could end in my Top 20. The 2nd best new entry comes from a band that entered the scene 2012 with the big hit “Hero” which I never charted. Before and after they failed to enter the charts so that Family of the Year is a classical one hit wonder band. The same happened on my chart when I charted them with “Make me mine” (peaked at #43) back in 2015. Now they are back with “Hold me down” (#44) and they break their one hit wonder status. “Hold me down” just failed to break the bands peak on my chart this week, but by next week “Hold me down” should be their biggest hit for me. The third highest new is from Ireland. Gavin James debuts with his single “Hearts on fire” (#44).

Generally this week sees 19 new entries which is near the chart record of 23 new entries from February 10th, 2018.
