Week 423 – April 6th, 2019

”Thru these tears” stayed four weeks at the top. “I don’t love you anymore” (#34) had been #1 for one week. And now “Thick and thin” (#1) scores its third week at the top. Things can’t go better for LANY at the moment. Three #1’s from their “Malibu nights” album and a fourth one is on its way. “If you see her again” (#2) is now for a third time in a row at the runner’s up spot and it is absolutely possible to see this one next week at #1. Still completing the podium is former #1 “Under water (club edit)” by AVEC. You can say that my chart’s Top 3 is a little bit boring, because it is still the same as last week and in the week before last week. Then I’ve to say that you’ve not seen the rest of my Top 10. Seven out of ten songs didn’t move this week. This brings me to the fact that “Don’t call me up” (#4) by Mabel and “Tell me it’s over” (#5) by Avril Lavigne are also non-moving this week.

Next in line is the first moving song in this week’s Top 10. Swedish singer LÉON recently released her full length self-titled debut album. This week she climbed up one spot with “You and I” (#6). If I’ve a little bit more time than this week I definitely give this album a chance. Hopefully I like this album. Up three spots is “Now that I found you” (#7) by Carly Rae Jepsen. This song is on its way into my Top 5 which could give Carly Rae Jepsen one of the biggest hits on my chart. Now two more non-movers are following. First “When the night moves” (#8) by Tyler Hilton & Kate Voegele failed to do the next step. Second Avril Lavigne’s “Dumb blonde” (#9) also struggles to perform as good as the previous singles by her. Last but not least “Nothing breaks like a heart” (#10) can be found within the Top 10, but this song dropped four spots and it should be replaced by next week.

Over the last weeks my chart got younger and younger. Only 26 songs are longer than nine week on my chart. Therefore more songs than usual are pushing to reach a spot within my Top 10. Up 11 spots is my cover song of the week “I think we’re alone now” (#11) by Indiana Massara. Her version of this classic youth song is definitely a choice for replacing “Nothing breaks like a heart” and maybe it marks the start of a long career. Also knocking heavily at the door to my Top 10 is the soul anthem “My love goes on” (#12) by James Morrison feat. Joss Stone. For both this one is their biggest chart hit to date. Absolutely worth reaching the Top 10 is “Baby please don’t stop” (#13) by Emma Bunton. Her comeback single definitely reminds me to her singles which she has released over a decade ago. You may think that these three songs are enough potential songs for my Top 10. Possibly you’re right, but there are some more which could reach Top 10 by next week. So you should’ve an eye on “For now” (#14) by Pink. “Damn” (#15) by LIVVIA, “Million dollar” (#18) by Anouk and “Don’t lie to me” (#20) by Lena.

Up 19 spots and awarded for the greatest gainer of the week is country song “The bones” (#65) by Maren Morris. Although I like her previous single “Girl” (#66) I think “The bones” will perform better. So let’s see how the eight debuts are doing. The highest one is the Spanish Remix version of “Lost in the middle of nowhere” (#45) which is debut for Country singer Kane Brown and singer Becky G. While Kane Brown is stepping out of his comfort zone, Becky G is doing what she does best. This song is the only debut within the Top 50. The 2nd best debut is “Walk me home” (#53) by Pink. Finally I started charting this song. I’m a little bit late, because I’m still charting songs from her “Beautiful trauma” album. Over the next weeks two more songs from this album should give their debuts before I will start charting her new songs expect the songs will be released as regular singles.

Leslie Clio and “Love is hard without the winter” (#98) by Luke Sital-Singh.
