Week 431 – June 1st, 2019

The first half of the year is going to end soon. So far I’ve to admit that it is a good year in music. Only one single (“Nada” (“Nothing”) by Shakira) spent only a single week at the top of the chart and most of these songs reached the three weeks mark. Fletcher reached this mark this week with “Undrunk” (#1). Maybe it is her last week at the top, because Avril Lavigne’s “Fell in love with the devil” (#4) is sprinting up the chart recently. So I believe this one could be her 3rd #1 from her “Head above water”-album. Between Avril Lavigne and Fletcher are still LANY. Their two former #1’s “Thick and thin” (#3) and “If you see her” (#2) are fighting for the top spots, but I feel that by next week only one song by them will be on the podium. Last but not least in the Top 5 is “Malelingue” (#5, “Gossips”) by Emma.

The 2nd half of the Top 10 is opened with Indiana Massara’s cover of “I think we’re alone now” (#6). It’s great to see this cover song in its 12th week on chart still in the Top 10. Then there is country pop by Lacy Cavalier. Her song “Blue suede couch” (#7) climbed up one spot. Next in line is two spots dropper “Now that I found you” (#8) by Carly Rae Jepsen. Up five spots and into the Top 10 is another song by Avril Lavigne. “Birdie” can now be found at #9. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out with “Don’t lie to me” (#10) by Lena which dropped three spots.

Last week a German rap song was awarded with the greatest gainer. This week the award goes to two songs. The higher ranked one is French pop “J’ai su” (#20, “I knew”) by Anaïs Delva. The other one is “If I can’t have you” (#55) by Shawn Mendes. “If I can’t have you” could be a big surprise for me, because at first I didn’t liked this song. Now it is growing more and more and so I’d not be surprise if this song ends in my Top 20 at least. The highest debut is by chart newcomer Jeanette Biedermann. In the early 2000’s she had several Top 10 hits in Germany and some in Austria and Switzerland. Her last solo single had been released back in 2009. She also has released several singles with her band Ewig which I charted once back in 2013. Now she released her first singles in German and “Deine Geschichten” (#33, “Your stories”) is her 2nd single out of her first album in German language. This song is a deep emotional song wherein she shares her feelings about the loss of her father. I absolutely love this song and I’ve no doubt that this song will end in the Top 10.

Other debuts are “Ausländer” (“80”, “Foreigner”) by Rammstein, “Dimenticherai” (#84, “Forget you”) and “Ogni festa” (#85, “Every party”)by Annalisa, “Walk away” (#86) by Four Of Diamonds, “Stay (don’t go away)” (#87) by David Guetta feat. Raye, “Dried blood” (#99) by Corey Harper and “Best you’ll ever have” (#100) by Inanna.
