Week 435 – June 29th, 2019

Austria and Europe in general are dealing with one of the biggest heat waves we ever had. The media told us that this is the hottest June in the last 250 years. Beside dealing with this heat wave I’m still listening to old and new music and so here I’m presenting you my latest chart. Still at the top is German singer Jeanette Biedermann with her recent single “Deine Geschichten” (#1, “Your stories”). This emotional song is holding former #1 “I fell in love with the devil” (#2) by Avril Lavigne at the runner’s up spot. Every move is too much in these days and so you find a non-moving Top 6. Therefore “Undrunk” (#3) is still completing the podium. At #4 you can find country pop “Blue suede couch” by Lacy Cavalier and at #5 still the highest ranked song by LANY is “If you see her”.

The 2nd part in the Top 10 is opened by the other Top hit by LANY which is “Thick and thin” (#6). Directly behind you find the first up-moving song. “It’s a new day” (#7) by Anouk climbed up one spot. Also up one spot is “Vermissen” (#8, “Miss”) by Juju feat. Henning May. These two songs are followed by the two newcomers. Let’s welcome back Shawn Mendes. He returns with “If I can’t have you” (#9). Also returning is Carly Rae Jepsen with her new one “Too much” (#10).

Taylor Swift is awarded with the greatest gainer with two of her songs from “Reputation”. Her songs “Call it what you want” (#45) and “This is why we can’t have nice things” (#46) climbed up 35 spots which is pretty good. So let’s see how the debuts have done this week. First of all I’ve to mention that this week’s edition sees a massive of 23 debuts which is nearly a new record. Once before the chart also saw 23 debuts which had been in edition 363. So it lasted 72 weeks before this record was equalized. The highest debut is by Swedish singer Zara Larsson. She had her first chart hit with “Uncover” (peaked at #6) back in 2013. Her only #1 had been “Lush life” back in 2015. Since that she is trying to repeat this success. Her new single “All the time” (#33) has a good debut and maybe it could reach the Top 10 and even more.

The 2nd highest debut is by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. Shawn Mendes had a #1 smash with “There’s nothing holding me back” back in 2017. His duet partner Camila Cabello failed to reach the Top 10 until today. Their song “Señorita” (#34) has written hit all over it and really believe that this song will do very well. And yes I feel the summer vibe in this song. So it is a big concurrence for “All the time” by Zara Larsson. Next debut in line is “Hi babe” (#35) by JuJu. For her it is the 2nd solo single I’m charting. The song title can be interpreted in two ways. “Hi” can stand for “Hallo” or as she is singing it can also stand for “High [on drugs]”. “Hi babe” is a rather cool German rap song and it should definitely end in the Top 10 as her other hit single “Vermissen”. The fourth straight Top 40 debut is by Swiss Stefanie Heinzmann. I’m feeling the positivity about this song and I really like the summer sound of this song. “Shadows” (#36) could be her first Top 10 hit on my chart.

Two more songs reached the Top 50. Finnish singer Lxandra released several singles over the last two years. None of these songs reached the chart, but with this edition “Swimming pools” (#47) is her first single I’m charting. You should definitely give this one a chance if you’ve not heard it before. The last but not least debut within the Top 50 is “Second” (#49) by Erika Costella. With this song she is dealing with the break-up of her long-time boyfriend. It is a decent song I don’t doubt that this song has the potential to hit the Top 20.
