Week 511 – December 12th, 2020

Emma is holding the top spot with "Mascara" (#1) while "Lovesick girls" (#2) by Blackpink is stuck at #2 for a 2nd week in a row. Also holding its spot is "Hot stuff" (#3) by Kygo & Donna Summer. Up one spot is German newcomer Leolixl with her single "Vielleicht verliebt" (#4, "Maybe in love"). She swapped the spot with Emma whose song "Latina" (#5) is now definitely on its way down after climbing up last week.

Back up is "Midnight sky" (#6) by Miley Cyrus. Is this song ready for climbing into the Top 5 again? I really don't know. All I can say is maybe. New in the Top 10 are three songs. The highest ranked one is "Tsunami" (#7) by Annalisa. Also new in this part is "Ein anderer Sommer" (#9, "A different summer") by Silbermond. After I lost interest in this band over several years they are celebrating a strong comeback in 2020. Their single "In meiner Erinnerung" ("In my memory") from "Schritte" ("Steps") reached the Top 20 early in 2020. In April their song "Machen wir das Beste draus" ("Let's make the best of it") about the Corona-theme reached the Top 10. And now their new one "Ein anderer Sommer" did this step too. This song is also about Corona. Hopefully they have done this turnaround for real. And for the first time in the Top 10 is German singer badmómzjay with her emotional single "Supernova" (#10). Caught between this new songs is "Macarena" (#8) by Ina Regen.

The greatest gainer of the week is "Du tust es immer wieder" (#30, "You keep doing it") by LEA. She is constantly releasing singles from her album "Treppenhaus" ("Staircase"). All these songs are only available on the deluxe version. So it isn't surprise that her new single "Schwarz" (#57, "Black") is the highest debut. Therefor she done it in two weeks in a row. The 2nd best debut is by Martin Jensen & Alle Farben & Nico Santos. "Running back to you" (#58) is another EDM track which are doing very well in these days. Three more debuts are from Taylor Swift's 2019 album "Lover". She debuts with "Cornelia Street" (#73), "Death by a thousand cuts" (#74) and "London boy" (#75). As you know I'm debuting all songs from albums I bought and so it is taking a while before I've charted every song from the entire album. Normally I've finished charting album cuts before a new album is released. Before 2020 only Anouk released two albums within a year so that I charted two albums at once. But this is definitely nothing against Taylor Swift. At the moment I'm charting songs from her 2019 album "Lover" and her 2020 album "Folklore". And now she released "evermore". I listened to this album yesterday and I've to say that I like it, but how much only the future will tell. So I'm for the first in the position to chart three albums from one artist at once to do what I've done in the past. This is absolutely headshaking, but at the moment a third surprise album in early 2020 won't surprise me. She has the time and I'm not sure when there will be concerts in 2021.
