Week 535 – May 29th, 2021

I've not seen such a quiet week in a while. Only four songs debuted and none of these songs reached the Top 70's. Therefore it is no surprise that "Nuda" (#1, "Naked") by Annalsia is topping the chart for its 5th week in a row. Italian Annalisa is still followed by German Mandy Capristo. Her song "Genug" (#2, "Enough") is now in its 9th week and I still have my doubts about reaching #1. In the hunt is Austrian band Schwarzweiß with their smash "I wü di" (#3, "I want you"). This song is definitely one of the youngest and freshest in this part of the chart, but there is a song which just reached the Top 10 and could outperform this song. Down one and out of the Top 3 is "Drivers license" (#4) by Olivia Rodrigo. New in the Top 5 is an album cut from "Treppenhaus" by LEA. Her song "Wenn nur Liebe hilft" (#5, "If only love could help") climbed up four spots.

Next in line and dropping down two spots is Maisie Peters' "John Hughes movie" (#6). Still a very good song, but a little bit overplayed by myself in the last days. Also on its way down are "Lass mich los" (#7, "Let me go") by Madeline Juno and "OK love you bye" (#8) by Olivia Dean. The next two songs in the Top 10 are new songs in the part of the chart. German Schlager singer Vanessa Mai reached this part with "Ruf nicht mehr" (#9, "Don't call anymore"). And last but not least the duet between Mark Forster and LEA reached a spot in the Top 10. "Drei Uhr nachts" (#10, "Three o'clock pm") climbed up four spots.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to two songs in this week. The higher ranked one is "You all over me" (#26) by Taylor Swift feat. Maren Morris. This is surely a good song, but as most of the time when Maren Morris is featured on a song I wish she had a more prominent part. The other one is the duet "Love to lose" (#51) by Sandro Cavazza & Georgia Ku. As pointed out above for the highest debut you have to dig very deep. It is "Zeit" (#80, "Time") by LARY. She is another young German artist who is hoping for a breakthrough. "Zeit" is a solid song, but for now I don't see this one anywhere near the Top 50. Other debuts are "Stalker" (#88) by 3YE, "Long way home" (#93) by Brynn Cartelli and "Every Saturday night" (#96) by Vandoliers.
