Week 571 – February 5th, 2022

Taylor Swift rocks the chart again. For a 2nd week in a row she is sitting on the throne with Chris Stapleton and their song "I bet you think about me" (#1). Still in the hunt is Adele with "Oh my god" (#2). New in the Top 3 is "Tschau tschau" (#3, "Bye bye") by Esther Graf. Although I really like this one I don't see reaching her #1 once again. These songs are followed by two LANY songs. First to mention is "When you're drunk" (#4). This song reached this part in its 10th week after climbing up two spots. Also up two spots is their duet "I quit drinking" (#5) with Kelsea Ballerini. I think that I'm going in the long run with the duet.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is "Bite me" (#6) by Avril Lavigne. Ed Sheeran also left this part with "Overpass graffiti" (#7). These two droppers are followed by the first of two new songs in the Top 10. "Other side" (#8) by Morgan Wade climbed up six spots and is her 2nd Top 10 hit out of her debut album "Reckless". She is caught between two songs by Ed Sheeran, because "Shivers" (#9) climbed up one spot. The other new song in the Top 10 could be a little surprise for you, but this one grew on me over the last week. Now in its 10th charting week "Der seidene Faden" (#10, "The silk thread") by Austrian Pizzera & Jaus reached the Top 10 for the 1st time and I absolutely can't see where the journey will end.

The greatest gainer of the week is "In the dark" (#34) by Purple Disco Machine & Sophie and the Giants. Their song climbed up 21 spots and outperformed every other rising single. The highest debut goes to an absolute newcomer. Actress/singer Lexi Jayde debuts with her song "Drunk text me" at #53. This is pretty decent for someone I've not known before. In some kind of way this song reminds me to Olivia Rodrigo's debut single "Drivers licence". As this one has become one of the biggest hits in 2021 the expectations for "Drunk text me" are high. On the other had this song is by a newcomer and so there is no need for reaching the top spot.

Other debuts are "Morgen" (#67, "Tomorrow") by Wincent Weiss, "Anyone for you" (#76) by George Ezra, "Best life" (#79) by Stefanie Heinzmann & HIGHT, "Mädchen Mädchen" (#80, "Girl girl") by YEANNIVER feat. Luci van Org – YEANNIVER is the leading singer of Jennifer Rostock who are on hiatus and Luci van Org is best known for her 1990's song "Mädchen" (back in 2020 she was feature on "Nicht mehr als Freunde" ("No more than friends") by ÉASY – "Jetzt oder nie" (#81, "Now or never") by Helene Fischer, "Don't wake me up" (#84) by Jonas Blue & Why Don't We, "redruM" (#86) by Sorana & David Guetta, "Need you" (#93) by Mihaela Marinova, "Beg for you" (#96) by Charli XCX feat. Rina Sawayama, "Hey Hanna" (#97) by Versengold, "Du hast gehofft" (#98, "You hoped") by SPD and "I'll never not love you" (#99) by Michael Bublé.
