Week 573 – February 19th, 2022

It has been time for a chance at the top of the chart. So LANY took over for the first time in three years. For Kelsea Ballerini "I quit drinking" (#1) is her 1st #1. This song is followed by "When you're drunk" (#2) which is another song by LANY. I really love that they are back at the top. Last week's #1 "I bet you think about me" (#3) by Taylor Swift feat. Chris Stapleton dropped two spots. Three spots up and into the Top 5 is "Der seidene Faden" (#4, "The silk thread") by Pizzera & Jaus. I've never thought that they will end ever so high, but this one is really special. The replaced "Oh my god" (#5) by Adele at #4.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is "Tschau tschau" (#6, "Bye bye") by Esther Graf. Also down one spot is "Other side" (#7) by Morgan Wade who is at the moment my favourite country artist. For the first time in years Natalie Imbruglia reached the Top 10. In my early twenties I played her albums on heavy rotation, but since I restarted charting back in 2011 she never reached this status. Now she is back with "On my way" (#9). Rounding out this week's Top 10 is former #1 "Overpass graffiti" (#10) by Ed Sheeran.

The greatest gainer of the week is "Love it when you hate me" (#40) by Avril Lavigne. It is a good song, but for the moment I doubt that this one will reach #1. "Love it when you hate me" climbed up 18 spots. The highest debut can be found within the Top 20. It is by LØLØ and Maggie Lindemann. They only time I charted Maggie Lindemann had been back in 2017 with her breakthrough hit "Pretty girl" (peaked at #23). Since that she has constantly failed to enter my chart or at least any notable chart. Canadian singer LØLØ is absolutely new to me. I've not heard about her before this week. They teamed up and released their single "Debbie Downer" (#20) which very fast growing on me. I also checked out LØLØ's former singles and so she also debuts with "Hurt less" (#81) and "Betty (from Betty's POV)" (#47), which is a Taylor Swift cover.

"Debbie Downer" and "Betty (from Betty's POV) aren't the only debuts in this week's Top 50. German project ClockClock is giving its debut with "Sorry" (#45) and German singer Felicia Lu returned very strong "Anxiety" (#46). And last but not least British singer Lauren Spencer-Smith got her debut with "Fingers crossed" (#48). Other debuts are "Wir bleiben" (#60, "We stay") by Revelle & Gregor Hägele, "Queen of ice" (#87) by Claptone feat. Dizzy, "Moving like that" (#88) by Omar Rudberg, "Soap" (#89) by Emily Roberts, "Rest in peace" (#95) by Dorothy, "Zorn & Liebe" (#97, "Anger & love") by Provinz & Nina Chuba, "Nebensaison" (#98, "Off-season") and "Like U" (#KA KEZA)
