Week 587 – May 28th, 2022

In the last week of May 2022 there is no change in my Top 3. For a 2nd week Austrian singer Mathea is shining bright from the top with “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#1, “Spark, wildfire”). Still behind is “When you lose someone” (#2) by Nina Nesbitt. The podium completing is “Something better” (#3) by Anouk. This song is absolutely in range for reaching #1 although I’m not sure if this will happen. The other song which is absolutely in distance to #1 is “Run” (#4) by Morgan Wade. This one could be her 2nd #1 following “Wilder days” which peaked at #1 back in 2021. Dropping one spot is “Nie begegnet” (#5, “Never met”) by Esther Graf & Monet192.

For the first time in weeks Tate McRae is leaving the Top 5 with her 5 times #1 “She’s all I wanna be” (#6). Next in line is “Von dir ein Tattoo” (#7, “A tattoo of you”) by Austrian singer Josh.. This one is caught between two former #1’s. The other one beside “She’s all I wanna be” is “In the dark” (#8) by Purple Disco Machine & Sophie and the Giants. I still love the vibes of this song. Dropping one spot and on its way out of the Top 10 is “Easy on me” (#9) by Rain Paris. It’s sad to see that this rock cover will only be a thing on my chart. The only new song in the Top 10 is in at #10. It is ”A te cosa piace fare” (#10, “What do you like to do”) by Annalisa.

Rising up 16 spots is German singer LEA with her song “Swimmingpool” (#26, “Swimming pool”). For this rise the song is awarded for the greatest gainer of the week. Last week I wrote that I hadn’t time to check all the songs in the qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest. Finally, I had time to check these songs out, but … oh man. I could have done better in my free time. None of these songs have met my expectations. So still the best song out of these is “Moving like that” by Omar Rudberg which peaked at #31. This song failed to represent Sweden, but as they did very well with their choice I can’t complain. I also had time enough to check out the songs in the American Song Contest which was held for the 1st time. Here two songs made it to my chart. The first one is the country song “Right in the middle” (#98) by John Morgan. The other one is the winning song “Wonderland” (#87) by AleXa. None of these songs is debuting very high.

The highest debut is the follow up single by Karley Scott Collins. Her single “Heavenly” (#33) is still climbing up the chart in its 10th week. Now she debuts with “Tattoos” (#56) which should at least do as well as “Heavenly”. I really like her voice and the songs and maybe she is the new rising star from this genre. The 2nd best debut is from Norwegian singer Emma Steinbakken. Her song “This one’s on me” (#58) is her 2nd chart hit after reaching the chart with “Not gonna cry” back in 2019. Giving her debut in the Top 60 is Amber Van Day with “Good morning” (#59).

Other debuts are “Last cigarette” (#73) and “Mend” (#74) by Morgan Wade, “Esper” (#80) by Kwon Eun Bi, “That’s what makes me love you” (#88) by The Regrettes, “Make up sex” (#89) by Machine Gun Kelly feat. Blackbear, “INVU” (#94) by Tayeon and “Tomboy” (#97) by G(I)-DLE.
