Week 586 – May 21st, 2022

Normally I’m checking out every song in the qualification to the Eurovision Song Contest to find some pearls (at least for me). This year I hadn’t really time to do this and so only a handful of songs which found their way into the regular charts made the way to my chart as well. I hope by next week this will change. So be prepared that no song from last week’s Eurovision Song Contest is debuting with this week’s chart.

Having this said let’s start with the Top 10. This week Austrian Mathea is reaching her 1st #1 hit with “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#1, “Spark, wildfire”). She replaced Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt with her hit “When you lose someone” (#2) which spent two weeks at the top. New in the Top 3 is a song from my favourite artist Anouk. Her song “Something better” (#3) climbed up one spot. New in the Top 5 is “Nie begegnet” (#4, “Never met”) by Esther Graf & Monet192. Dropping two spots and rounding out this week’s Top 5 is “She’s all I wanna be” (#5) by Tate McRae.

Next in line is another former #1. It is “In the dark” (#6) by Purple Disco Machine feat. Sophie and the Giants. Country/American by Morgan Wade is still doing well on my chart. Her recent smash “Run” (#7) climbed up two spots. This song is followed by a rock cover of “Easy on me” (#8) by Rain Paris. For the first time in the Top 10 is Austrian singer Josh.. His latest single “Von dir ein Tattoo” (#9, “A tattoo of you”) climbed up eight spots to reach this part of the chart. Down three spots is ”Roses” (#10) by Alyssa Reid.

Last week Aitana was award with the greatest gainer of the week with “En el coche” (#27, “In the car”). This week she is awarded again for this song after climbing up 14 spots. As last week the debuts can’t really be found in the upper side of the chart. So the highest debut goes to an album cut by LEA which is “Immer wieder” (#78, “Again and again”). She also debuts with “Ende der Welt” (#79, “End of the world”). Other debuts are “Taxi” (#84) by Max Giesinger, “You’re my heart, you’re my soul” (#85) by Katja Krasavice X Dieter Bohlen X Pietro Lombardi, “Zuckerschock” (#86, “Sugar shock”) by Gregor Hägele, “Smiley” (#89) by Yena feat. Bibi and “Better days” (#90) by WIER.
