Week 588 – June 4th, 2022

A wildfire isn’t really a good thing. No matter of the time and specially during the summer months. On the other hand, in a song it is no problem. So Austrian singer Mathea is still singing from the top with her hit “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#1, “Spark, wildfire”). New at the runner’s up spot is “Something better” (#2) by my favourite artist Anouk. In the hunt for the top spot is also Country/Americana singer Morgan Wade with her hit “Run” (#3). Both songs climbed up one spot. While these songs are climbing up the chart former chart-topping hit “When you lose someone” (#4) by Nina Nesbitt is on its way down after losing two spots. The only other song holding its spot in the Top 5 is “Nie begegnet” (#5, “Never met”) by Esther Graf & Monet192.

Josh.’s first Top 10 hit “Von dir ein Tattoo” (#6, “A tattoo of you”) is now knocking heavily at the door to the Top 5 and as this one is the youngest song in this part of the chart there is also a chance for doing the last step. Directly behind you can find Tate McRae’s 1st #1 hit “She’s all I wanna be” (#7). Unfortunately, this song dropped one spot. The only new song in the Top 10 is in at #8. It is “Fluss” (#8, “River”) by LEA. She is followed by Annalisa and her song “A te cosa piace fare” (#9, “What do you like to do”). Definitely for the last time in the Top 10 can “In the dark” (#10) by Purple Disco Machine & Sophie and the Giants be found.

The greatest gainer of the week is a song by Morgan Wade who entered the Top 3 this week with her actual single. Now the album cut “Last cigarette” (#58) climbed up 15 spots in its 2nd week and is awarded for the greatest gainer of the week. This brings me as always to the highest debut. Over the last years the highest debut mostly was found behind the greatest gainer of the week, but not this week. This week it is a song by Italian trap-singer sangiovanni who took Italy by storm during the last year with his summer hit “Malibu”. As this kind of music isn’t my cup of tea, he absolutely failed to enter my chart until Week #588. For his current single “Mariposas” (#31, “Butterflies”) he teamed up with Spanish singer Aitana who is very well known on my chart with multiple hit songs. For the moment she is charting with seven songs and she could have had two more songs on my chart, but I don’t like her songs “Sálvame” (“Save me”) with Moderatto and “La canción que no quiero cantarte” (“The song that I don’t want to sing to you”) with Amaia which also has been released as regular singles over the last weeks. “Mariposas” on the other side is very catchy and so this song just failed to enter the Top 30, but with a great outlook.

The 2nd best debut is by USA newcomer Em Beihold wither her song “Numb little bug” (#47). This one is a little sleeper hit for me as I checked out this song some weeks ago. The first listen didn’t meet my expectations, but then I gave this song another chance. The result is a good start inside the Top 50 which was missed by the 3rd highest debut “Lies” (#53) by Pale Waves. This one is their 1st single from the upcoming new album “Unwanted”.

Other debuts are “What would you do” (#61) by Tate McRae, “What it feels like” (#71) and “Nothing missing” (#82) by Natalie Imbruglia, “Beifahrersitz” (#87, “Passenger seat”) by Elif, “Me myself & I” (#88) by 5 Seconds of Summer, “Bad life” (#89) by Sigrid & Bring Me The Horizon, “Loveback” (#90) by Alice Merton, “Ich will nur dich” (#91, “I just want you”), “Supermodel” (#94) by Måneskin and “She don’t know” (#100) by Jade Eagleson.
