Early in 2023 British act Pale Waves reached #1 with “Unwated” (#68). This week they returned with a song form their album of the same name. “Only problem” (#1) climbed up four spots and dethroned “Temporary” (#2) by Alexa Cappelli after topping the chart for five weeks. Holding its spot in the Top 3 is “Velvet heartbreak” (#3) by Carrie Underwood who just released the deluxe version of “Denim & rhinestones”. Next in line is another track by Pale Waves. Their song “Without you” (#9) climbed up five spots. Dropping down is “River” (#5) by Miley Cyrus.

“Renn zurück” (#6, “Run back”) by Esther Graf & Fourty is on their way into the Top 5 after climbing up one spot. Directly behind is one of the biggest hits by Miley Cyrus. Her former #1 “Flowers” (#7) dropped three spots and can be found outside the Top 6 for the first time since weeks. Up two spots is “Up to me” (#8) by LANY. I’m currently charting their album “gg xx bb” while the band just released the first single from their upcoming album “I really really hope so’s”. Down three spots is “Burn” (#9) by Carrie Underwood. Still in the Top 10 is eight time #1 “Nie wieder sehen” (#10, “Never see again”) by JuJu.

This week’s greatest gainer is “Through your eyes” (#37) by Morgan Wade which climbed up 17 spots. I hope this will go on. Directly behind you can find this week’s highest debut which is “Jaded” (#38) by Miley Cyrus. Maybe I should give her album a try, because with “Jaded” she has now three hits from this album on my chart. The 2nd best debut is “Dance the night” (#39) by Dua Lipa. I like this song, although it’s no “Barbie girl”. I know, I know it is a lame joke, but for the moment I can’t decide whether I go to the cinema to see the film or not. In my opinion this film is a chance to get a new version of Aqua’s biggest hit as there are several interpolations around the chart and Kygo has shown what he can do with former hits.

These two songs landed within the Top 40, but there are three more songs which debuted in the Top 50. The next one is “Startover” (#47) by ROSIE. I haven’t noticed her before, but I like this catchy song although the theme isn’t the easiest. Next in line is one of the last album cuts from LEA’S album “Treppenhaus” (“Stairwell”). Her song “Tausendmal” (#48, “A thousand times”) is doing well and should bring her back into the Top 20. And there is Lana Del Rey. She retourns with “Say yes to heaven” (#50).

Other debuts are “Love at first fight “(#57) by LANY, “Happy” (#58) by Leah Kate, “Do U really?” (#59) by Lyn Lapid feat. Ruth B., “Las babys” (#60) by Aitana – this song is an interpolation of one of my 90s favorite “Saturday night” by Whigfield which reached Top 10 in Austria when I was 14 –, “Feels this good” (#83) by Sigala & Mae Muller & Caity Baser, “Arrow” (#84) by Laura Marano, “Fast” (#87, “Almost”) by LEA, “Dicke Socken” (#88, “Thick socks”) by LEA, “In the name of love” (#89) by Rain Paris, “Juliet” (#90) by AleXa, “What the hell are we dying for?” (#93) by Shawn Mendes, “Your love” (#94) by Julia Cole, “Runaways” (#95) by Danielle Bradbery, “Not enough” (#96) by Celina Sharma, “Pretend” (#98) by Colbie Caillat and “Deathwish” (#99) by Amber Van Day.
