Week 684 – April 6th, 2024

Holding the top spot for the fifth time in a row is “Killer” (#1) by FKA twigs. I’m still in love with this song, but maybe this is the last time “Killer” can be found at the top. “Keep your demons” (#2) by TAELA is still at the runner’s up spot, but there is a little chance to take over by next week. Next in line are two former #1’s. First to mention is “You & me” (#3) by Jennie. The other one is “Euforia” (#4) by Annalisa. This song dropped out of the Top 5 two weeks ago and now it is rising again. For the first time in the Top 5 is “Überall” (#5, “Everywhere”) by Esther Graf & Montez.

Directly behind is the highest ranked new song in the Top 10. It is by Austrian singer Ella Stern. Her chart debut “R&J” (#6) climbed up six spots to earn her this honour. Up one spot is “When I go” (#7) by Dylan Conrique. She outperformed “Are you done running” (#8) because this song dropped four spots in its 13th charting week. Then there is the 2nd new song in this part of the chart. It is another single by TAELA. Her song “Bleachers” (#9) climbed up two spots. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out by Shania Yan’s cover version of “Everytime we touch” (#10).

Very rare is the fact that the award for the greatest gainer goes to a song which isn’t ranked higher than the top four new entries. This week the award goes to “Heavy metal” (#50) by Karley Scott Collins after climbing up 15 spots. As always, this information is followed by the information about the highest debut. This week there are 16 debuts and nine of these debuts are related to this years Eurovision Song Contest. A lot of these songs failed to represent the country where they were participating.

Most of these nine songs were presented during the Sanremo Music Festival 2024 and so the highest debut is out of this contest. It is “Click boom!” (#13) by Rose Villain. For her it is the 2nd chart entry following “Eva+Eva” by Annalisa where she reached as featured act at spot in the Top 20. “Click boom!” only reached rank 23 in Sanreamo but earned a Top 10 spot in Italy. The 2nd best debut is also from this Festival. It is “Sinceramente” (#45, “Sincerely”) by one of the biggest stars from Italy on my chart, Annalisa. “Sinceramente” finished third and reach #2 in Italy. Then there is “Un ragazzo una ragazza” (#46, “One boy one girl”) by The Kolors who had last year a hit with “Italo disco”. “Un ragazzo una ragazzo” finished 16th and peaked at #7 in Italy. Once more Emma participated and she finished 14th with “Apnea” which peaked at #9 in Italy. And last but not least “Tu no” (#86, “Not you”) by Irama was part of this Festival and finished at #5. In Italy this song also peaked at #5.

Other song contest related songs are “Hurricane” (#87) by Eden Golan which represents Israel, “Always on the run” (#89) by ISAAK for Germany, “Sand” (#91) by Saba for Denmark and “Ramonda” (#98) by Teya Dora for Serbia. Not Song Contest related debuts are “Enough” (#47) by Jess Glynne, “Dangerous” (#83) by DELA, “Last of us” (#84) by Gryffin feat. Rita Ora, “You” (#85) and “Handstand” (#90) by Miley Cyrus, “Friends for life” (#88) by LENNY – this is her first chart appearance since 2016 – and “LIAR” (#97) by Roa.
