Week 724– January 11th, 2025

ROSÉ defended the crown with “Number one girl” (#1) which is now #1 for the third time. Runnin’ in at the runner’s up spot is “That’s so true” (#2) by Gracie Abrams. Next in line is former #1 “Dancing in a hurricane” (#3) by Frey Ridings. This means the Top 3 remains stable. The first song which moved up is “Baby tu” (#4, “Baby you”) by Luca Vasta. It climbed up three spots. Down one spot is “Moonlit floor” (#5) by LISA.

Nina Chuba’s “Fliegen” (#6, “Flying”) climbed up three spots and is now one spot behind the Top 5. Former #1 “Ghost me” (#7) by Holly Humberstone dropped out of this part of the chart. New in the Top 10 is the next song. It is “Zu spat” (#8, “Too late”) by Revelle. She has now two songs in the Top 10. The other one is “Lieb dich, hass dich” (#10, “Love you, hate you”). Caught between these two songs is “Ich mag dich” (#9, “I like you”) by LEA.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to KNOX for the song “Miss when you missed me” (#38) after climbing up 15 spots. US Indie pop act Nightly is featured on this track. Last week I wrote that my chart is getting old. This week there is a change as 20 songs got their debut. Two of these songs entered the Top 50. The highest ranked debut is by Anyma feat. Ellie Goulding. Their song “Hypnotized” is in at #44. While Ellie Goulding is a well-known artist this song is the first entry for Anyma. The 2nd best debut is by a!ka from the Philippines. I’ve not heard of her before, and I doubt most of you have done so. Her chart debut “Coffee” (#48) is her 3rd release since April 2024. I really like this one and it should do well on the chart.

Just missing the Top 50 are two songs. “Sonne” (“Sun”) by Vincent Malin is in at #55. This is his comeback single after staying away from music for several years. Back in 2015/16 he charted with two songs as featured act on my chart. The other song is “Ganz schön high” (#56, “Pretty high”). It is from another singer from German. For Greta this is her 2nd chart entry after debut with “Chaos im Kopf” (“Chaos in the head”) last year.

Other debuts are “If only” (#65), “Everything you are will be lost” (#79) and “When I die” (#86) all by Anouk, “Still hot to go” (#66) by Chappell Roan & Paramore – which is a mashup by Joseph James which I just discovered –, “Tickets für Oasis” (#72, “Tickets for Oasis”) by Josh., “Good luck, babe!” (#74) by Chappell Roan, “Too sweet” (#76) by Hozier – I know I’m late charting these two songs –, “What if we?” (#83) by Emi Choi, “Buttons” (#84) by Lyn Lapid, “Melancholie” (#93, “Melancholy”) by Julia Meladin, “Scissors” (#94) by Julia Michaels & Maren Morris, “Dein Herz” (#95, “Your heart”) by Fäaschtbänkler, “Teil von dir” (#96, “Part of you”) by LEVKA, “Never gave up on me” (#97) by The Afters, “Gloomy Sunday” (#98) by Violet Orlandi and “Denial is a river” (#99) by Doechii.
