It had been a long night for me watching the Divisional Round in the NFL and seeing a win by my favourite team the Seattle Seahawks. Nevertheless, this review is not about the NFL its all about the music. The top spots of my chart haven’t changed this week. This means that Jessie Murph is still topping the chart with “I’m not there for you” (#1) after taking over last week. “Eyes closed” (#2) by Jisoo & Zayn is holding their runner’s up spot as well as “The fate of Ophelia” (#3) by Taylor Swift and “Unsterblich sein” (#4, “Be immortal”) by Kraftklub feat. Domiziana didn’t move. The first move in this part had been “New heart” (#5) by Crash Adams with a five spot climb.
Next in line is non-moving “Mittelfinger an die Welt” (#2, “Middle finger to the world”) by Paula Engels. It’s the last one in the Top 10 which was able to hold its spot. New in the Top 10 and in at #7 is German singer LEA with her song “Ich bin” (#7, “I am”). Sophia and the Giants climbed up one spot with their song “Loser” (#8). This one is followed by another Top 10 debut which is “Don’t worry” (#9) by Leony. Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is “Gommapiuma” (#10, “Foam rubber”) by Annalisa.

For the greatest gainer of the week, you must dig deep. It is “Feeling” (#67) by Reiley which climbed up 12 spots to land in the Top 70. As the Top 10 showed this week is a little bit slow although there are 17 debuts. The highest one is by one of my rising singers. Anaïs just released her EP “Wünsch dir was” (“Make a wish”). Almost every song from this EP has been released as a regular single over the course of last year so there hadn’t been a lot of options for a new single. One of the new songs is ”Fremdknutschen” (#20, “Kissing a stranger”) which was chosen as single and it entered directly my Top 20. I can’t really say that the topic of this song is something which had been on my mind, but I love this song. So it could be about time to find her in my Top 10.

The 2nd best debut is by US-singer Bruno Mars. Over the years he had several hits on my chart, but since his debut back in 2010 with “Just the way you are” and “Grenade” – both songs had their peak before I re-started charting – he failed to do the last step reaching #1. With his new song “I just might” (#33) it all could change. Sure I know there is a lot of interpolation and sampling and reverences to older songs which makes it hard to consider it as an entirely new work by him (yes I know that this is a general trend) I love it. The next few weeks will show if “I just might” will do this one last step to earn him his 1st #1 hit on my chart.

Other debuts are “Something I can’t have” (#59) by Tiffany Aris, “Tanzen” (#60, “Dance”) by DELA, “Sweet love” (#76) by Stephen Sanchez, “Die on this hill” (#77) by Sienna Spiro, “Cowboys cry to” (#78) by Kelsea Ballerini, “First rodeo” (#86), “Baggage” (#87) also by Kelsea Ballerini – I know that I’m late on these songs, but as I was also late on her previous album “Subject to change” it is a natural thing that there is a delay in charting songs from this album – “Sad song” (#79) by JP Cooper feat. Gabrielle, “Quite like me” (#82) by Emmaline, “I thought I saw your face today” (#83) by She & Him, “Postkarte” (#85, “Postcard”) by Philipp Poisel, “Trouble follows” (#88) by Yonaka, “Mature” (#94) by Hilary Duff and “Stateside” (#98) by PinkPantheress & Zara Larsson.
